Ishi wasn't really having the greatest time of his life so far. It's been a few weeks since the whole banishment thing and before he could do anything about that he was picked up and brought to some pocket dimension against his will. Getting placed in the Islets also didn't really help him either, everything has just been straight up bullshit.

Ishi eventually found himself waiting around the community center. After he was released from the islets, someone had recommended him to check out some type of group meeting thing for newcomers to the island. He was reluctant to the idea of that at first. Ishi wasn't exactly big on the idea of attending some type of welcome committee thing after being brought here against his will but after thinking it over he figured attending at least one meeting couldn't be so bad. At worst, it would be a waste of time.

After mulling over his options a bit more, Ishi headed up the stairs and into one of the rooms that one of the meetings were taking place in.

Konpeitō was leaned back in his chair, letting the group have their discussion about strange foods on the island. Bringing up that he was one of the strange foods wasn't going to help, and frankly, Konpeitō was a little unnerved by it himself still. Money was money, but his choice of occupation was weird for his species. Or what he once was.

His ears flickered at the sound of footsteps. They would have been ignored if they didn't stop right in front of the closed door separating the meeting room from the hall. Others with strong hearing slowly stopped talking to watch Konpeitō head towards it, all the while waving his hand to insist the conversation continue.

After unlocking the door and moving into the hallway, he finally met the eyes of the visitor. His bright smile faltered as he saw the man's face. "Wha...t...?" Whoever this guy was, he wasn't his old friend. Now that he wasn't focusing purely on his face, there were many, many glaring differences. His body type, his skin, the crystals growing all over him.

He slowly closed the door behind him and gave a self-deprecating laugh. "That was rude of me. Up close, you looked like someone I once knew. Anyway, hello! Was there something you needed from this room, or did you come to join us?"

Ishi remained silent. He was caught by surprise when the door opened just as he was reaching for the handle. He took a step back and smiled briefly at the colorful cat person in front of him.

"Oh, hello. I was looking fo-"
It took Ishi a few seconds into him talking to slowly lose his train of thought as he looked at the person in front of him. "Are you..." Ishi couldn't finish his sentence. He definitely mouth something but the words just didn't come out of his mouth.

He had a nagging sensation in the back of his mind that started to bother him. Ishi stared directly at Kon and frowned briefly for a moment. There was something there but the more he thought about it the more he felt like he was getting a headache. The other guy's reaction also didn't really help with this. It just made Ishi even more confused than before. He looked like someone he once knew? What the fuck does that even mean? Is that some sort of weird compliment or an insult?

Ishi eventually forced himself to snap out of it. "I was recommended to attend a meeting for something called TWIS after I was released from the Islets. Is this the correct place?"

Great. Now things were weird. That response wasn't going to be ignored. They both thought of someone when they looked at once another.

Professional or not, Konpeitō was stubborn. When he wanted to know something, he would know it. He didn't think he deserved to get everything he wanted, but he always worked hard for his goals.

And he had a goal now.

"This is! The meeting hasn't gone on for too long, so you can still join in. I'm Konpeitō Hatsu. Kon is also an acceptable nickname." The edges of his smile were predatory as he bowed. Konpeitō was familiar to this man. But from where? If this was who Konpeitō was reminded of, then Kon Hatsu would have been the more familiar name.

His heart was racing. Everything told him the possibility was ridiculously low, but strange things always happened on this island.

"Konpeitō Hatsu." Ishi repeated his name right after Kon said it. There was definitely some familiarity with that name but he wasn't exactly sure why. He didn't want to keep focusing on this right now. It was just causing a headache and distracting him for the actual reason he was here.

Kon bowing to Ishi also helped change his line of thinking. This was actually the first time he has ever been bowed to so he just stood there awkwardly. "Oh..." He was going to tell Kon he didn't have to bow but he wasn't sure if this was a cultural thing.
Ishi immediately took his turn at bowing once Kon was done. It made sense to show respect back. "I am just called Ishi."

Ishi stood back up and folded his arms across his chest. This was going somewhat better than he expected so far. "Is there anything that's needed of me to join this meeting? It wasn't made clear to me if I needed to pay or fill out some type of form."

The pause before Ishi bowed back caused him some worry. He knew bowing could be seen as weird—Ganymede made that apparent—but he wanted to try being more polite when representing TWIS.

"No, there's no payment or forms to fill. It's an opt-in, opt-out sort of thing. All we ask is that you're respectful to everyone in the room. It's not uncommon for a discussion to turn personal and heavy. If you feel uncomfortable, there's nothing wrong with leaving and coming back later. I can tell you when the conversation's over."

Well Ishi was a bit glad that was cleared up then. He didn't want to be in a awkward position of coming to this meeting only to find out he needed to pay for it. It also gave him more reason to give this meeting thing a shot. "I see."

He took mental note of the fact that some of the conversations could get personal and that he was allowed to leave whenever he wanted. He liked that he wasn't required to share stuff if he didn't want to. "If there isn't anything else I should know then I believe I am ready to enter. With your approval of course."

"You're approved!" he replied with much enthusiasm. March was only starting and yet he was already being reminded of TWIS's potential. There was no time for breaks for Konpeitō. He was always working and had to keep in mind that sooner or later he would have to invest serious money to keep this organization going.

When the two entered the room, everyone faced the newcomer. Ishi was allowed to introduce himself as Konpeitō closed and locked the door behind them. Afterward, the discussion continued. Konpeitō didn't speak much so the counselors could give out any needed professional advice. Most of the talking was done by the members.

Magical healthcare was the topic for the short time left of the discussion. Some people complained that, sure, healthcare was great here, but it sucked that people had to pay to immediately recover from injuries or be revived. When there were rich people all over the island and some people with powers to give them an unlimited supply of money, magical healthcare could have been available to everyone. As someone who didn't particularly like the idea of having to give up his money for strangers, he wasn't going to touch that discussion.

When people began trickling out because of responsibilities and, eventually, the time running out, Konpeitō let out a tired sigh. Topics like that were always tense.

Ishi found the whole topic of medical healthcare and how it works on the island really dumb. Well dumb probably wasn't the right word, it was just vastly different from how things worked back at the fae realm he was from. Ishi didn't speak on the topic, he felt like bringing anything up about the Fae court and how they were big on magical experimentations and medical procedures probably wasn't a good idea. He did like that he was able to at least learn a bit about the island's healthcare system. That information would definitely be useful in the future.

Ishi stuck around for a bit once people started clearing out. He wasn't sure if the meeting was over or if people just needed to head out. After waiting a bit longer, he went to re-approach Kon. "I believe this meeting has been informational."

"That's great to hear!" Konpeitō leaned back in his chair so it was balancing on its hind legs. "Too bad we didn't have a lighter discussion for today. Would have been much easier to take in. But!" he clasped his hands with a clap, "this is all important information anyway. I don't know how many people think about healthcare when they first come to the island. I think most people skim over it until they feel unsafe."

Leaning forward so his chair would stand correctly, he put his arms on the table. "If you have any questions, feel free to ask!"
