Finally.

Delaney was in space.

Sorry astronauts that study for decades and go through rigorous training and studying. Sorry but this goth is gonna say a big old "no thanks" and take a teleporter to a giant space station. Like, sure if she took the old fashioned way the world would call her the "first goth in space" and like, that was a totally fine title and all. But then she wouldn't be on this awesome date with her dragon boyfriend now would she? No, she would be studying rocket science or something. Ew.

"Okay, okay! Tell me. Everything." Delaney had her cane in one hand, and held Hector's in the other. Though she would have loved Georgette by her side, Delaney wasn't sure how her dog would handle first being teleported then thrust into a totally alien place like the station. She didn't want to put undue stress on her dog, and between Hector and her cane she should be fine. "Describe everything, especially the cool stuff."

"Dude there's so much going on, holy crap," Hector responded, sort of looking around wondering where to start. "You ever see Star Wars? It's kinda like that. There's a huge window looking out into space, and a lot of the signs are holograms. Looks like the main path leads to all the stuff like the docking bays for the ships, restaurants, and a hologram place?"

Dela's excitement was infecting Hector. He was happy to lead her along, pointing out things worth noting much like he did for their first date. He liked to think he was pretty good at it too. He wasn't missing a beat with any of it either. At this point he was just following the signs. The station was huge enough for a small school, residential section, amusement park, and of course the various tourist attractions. A city, they were in a city in space. "We should totally see if we can get some cool space stuff while we're up here."

Delaney groaned, "I havn't seen Star Wars!" She knew like, light sabers and Jar Jar but that was about it. Maybe she could have recognized the Millennium Falcon? "I've seen the first Star Trek movie?" She offered. Though, she only saw that because Velda let her tag along to a sleep over at her friend's house. The girls watched a ton of movies and ran out good ones around 2am. So, they finished off with a Star Trek movie and fell asleep during it. "Okay, I've seen, like, half of the first Star Trek movie."

Hector was good at describing things though, and with a little of her own imagination a picture of the station took form in her mind. She could see all the ships, the flow of people and holographic signs. Restaurants with foods out of this world and waaay beyond her nose to detect. She caught a million different smells as they passed by them. "Hell yeah I want some cool space swag. I've saved up money just for this." Delaney bounced on her heels while they waited on a group to pass .

"Can we check out the virtual arcade? I want to see if all this fancy techno-stuff will work for me." Magic was straight out, but maybe science held the answers.

"Well I know what our next date's gonna be then..." Hector said in response to her having never seen a Star Wars movie. He was following the signs, and leading them along until he found the place. He blinked, having a bit of minor visual overload at everything that was there. There were standard looking games. Things that had to be games but he had no idea how they worked. Simulator rooms, full dive vr pods... it was a cool looking place, but there was still a ton happening.

"Holy crap, Dela I don't even know where to start here. It's like... a regular arcade, but way more sci-fi," he explained as he led her in. He was glad he wore some specialized earplugs for this. "You said you wanted to try some of the virtual stuff right?"

"Movie date? Heck yeah. But I get to pick a movie too." There was this zombie thriller that came out a few years ago on the island. She heard about it from some people and they swore up and down it was the most intense thing they ever watched.

Delaney stuck close to Hector, her hand grasped tightly around his. The space station was like sensory overload, too many new sounds and smells to process. Dela was ready to distract herself with fun games and maybe win a giant space bear for Hector. She giggled at his comment, "so like, a nice arcade?" One that could afford to throw in some atmosphere.

"Yeah! Like, one of those virtual video games we heard of." She couldn't remember who it was that brought them up, some kind of AI girl? The details was fuzzy. "There's like, a fantasy one? 'cuz, if so that's the one I wanna do."

"I mean I can't be dominating all the choices on our dates. Besides I trust you to pick out something good," he replied regarding their movie date. Hector looked around for a staff member, and wound up flagging down a robot. He asked his usual questions regarding his girlfriend's needs and what kinds of things they could do to accommodate them. He got a fairly detailed recommendations on what games would be most suitable for her. There was a fairly impressive list, unfortunately there weren't any fantasy games at this place at least.

"We could grab a couple headsets and try the dance games," he gave her a nudge. "I think we'll have to save the super fancy stuff for another trip up. Let's just call this a... scouting trip?"

Delaney was content to let Hector ask some robot about blind-friendly games. It gave her time to soak in the arcade and start to piece together her mental map of it. Every beep and blip noted and placed, the air drafts from vents and moving bodies similarly cataloged. Hector's nudge brought her out of her map. "Yeah, no problem. And don't you think you have an unfair advantage?" She teased.

"Since you already know all the slick dance moves." Delaney squeezed his hand, "Just go easy on me." She added as they made their way to the dance machines. Once on the platform she found her headset figured out which way was forward by the good graces of fingers. She did ask Hector if it was on right though, before turning it on. Who knows what happens when you put space science gizmo's on backwards?

There was a moment of nothingness, then all of sudden color. She lost her sight less than year ago, hardly any time at all in the grand scheme of things. Even though she could see for most of her life, the sudden appearance of things and color very nearly made her cry. Delaney sunk to her knees, her in-game avatar mirrored the motion. She sat there, trying to take it all in.
