Ellyn's smile twitched a little. God, how she wanted to fight this point with him, but that would be counter-productive, then he wouldn't even want to befriend her. "All right," she murmured, partial smile still in place. Her look was thoughtful, not dejected as it should have been by such rejection.
Maybe when she was out of high school, he'd see it her way. Age was just a number, specifically on an island where people were immortal and hardly looked their age. She was an honor student; that was intelligent and mature enough, right? One day. Yeah, that made things better. One day.
Ellyn took her tray as she stood. "I'll see you later at the library, Ophion. Just think about something we can do outside of work, yeah? Something you'd be comfortable with. It's easier than me trying to guess."

Ophion had to bite back a sigh of relief when she took his rejection fairly well. That said, it was probably for the better he didn't have a telepathy type power, or he probably would have been running the other direction."I'll give it some thought," he said, although he doubted he'd be able to come up with anything that he felt would be appropriate for him to do with a highschooler.
He gave her a little wave as she left, but remained where he was to finish his lunch before he finally returned to the library.
