"You must not have been here long, then," Audric laughed headily and gave up trying to coax Jacky closer to him with small cups of caffeinated drinks and sugar. "I don't think Jackalope are supposed to exist, either, so I can't say what their dietary needs are."
He drummed his fingers on the table and smiled at Sam. After a section, Audric took one of the cups of coffee from the drink tray and sipped it blindly, not even grimacing at the pain the heat might have caused him.
"I didn't poison them. I assume you drink coffee or why are you here?"
