Wait, did he...was he really not doing this on purpose? Jazz gave a light, involuntary shudder when Deacon's tail began suddenly exploring upwards, her cheeks growing increasingly flushed as it did. Something about the innocent way he spoke was just so believable to her, however, and she didn't want to make him think he was causing ber any discomfort.

She nodded hurriedly when he asked if she was alright, forcing a less than genuine laugh. "F-fine, yeah, I'm...it's nothing. Just, um. Just a little drafty in here or something, I think there's an air vent, or...yeah." Clearing her throat, she fumbled for a chip, initially dropping one, and mimicked the amount of salsa that the demon loaded onto his.

"Well, uh, yeah. I guess pain can make things kinda exciting sometimes, right? Or, y'know...yeah." Visibly hesitating but not wanting him to think she was intimidated by a little bit of spice alone, the bear girl crunched the chip, clearly regretting her decision after about ten seconds but doing her absolute best to pretend she was fine. "G...ood, it's really tas..ty!"

Deacon laughed a bit as Jazz tried to pretend that she wasn't hurting from the salsa. But it did give him an idea of how easy she might be to nudge into stuff. He slid her his glass of water, shaking his head a bit. "You don't have to prove anything on a first date."

"Ah," he said, seeming embarrassed as he rubbed the back of his neck. He back pedaled from the D word, acting the shy guy. "I mean. Ya know. Pals. Hanging out. At a pretty nice restaurant. Together with nobody else."

Jazz very gratefully took the water from him, mumbling out a thank you before tipping back the glass and chugging a bit of it. Even if it didn't do all too much to alleviate the spice itself, the temporary cold on her tongue was more than welcome. "Y-yeah, it's not that I have to prove anyth..." Wait. She hadn't even registered that he said date at first, but the way he backed off from it certainly got her attention.

Suddenly, her mind flashed back to their initial meeting, how she'd felt when he complimented her, his hand tilting her chin up, all of it. She somehow felt guilty admitting so quickly that she was attracted to somebody, but at the same time it seemed entirely right. "W-well, yeah, um...I mean..." Clearing her throat, she found herself abundantly aware of the gentle pressure on her calf once again, exhaling shakily and exerting every ounce of her reserved courage to look up into Deacon's eyes. "It's not like, um...we didn't really label what this was going into it, s-so it's not like, um...not like it has to not...be a date?" Just as Deacon had backpedaled, except entirely genuine in this case, Jazz quickly laughed off her own words and found herself staring at a bit of spilled pepper on the tablecloth. "S-sorry, sorry. I must sound so stupid right now..."

Deacon smirked a bit. He couldn't help it. She was too cute like this. His tail wiggled up past her knee as he leaned in a bit closer. Deacon brushed his hand through his hair, considering how to move forward.

"Well, if it doesn't have to not be a date..." He was interrupted by the waiter coming out with their food, bringing out a platter with all the accoutrements to make their tacos with. The pork itself was shredded nicely and smelled of spices and citrus. Then of course there was sour cream, a blend of shredded cheeses, more salsa, guacamole, etc.

"Ah, looks good huh? You wanna go ahead and dig in?"

In their relatively short time knowing each other, Deacon's confidence had consistently managed to throw Jazz off guard in a way she wasn't at all used to, and now was no exception. She tore her eyes away from their fixated spot on the table, meeting his and taking in every detail of his expression. He was just so casual about all this while all manner of alarm bells was going off in her head, which both amazed and confused her.

Their food arriving was a welcome distraction to let her try and gather her thoughts a bit. "Y-yeah, let's eat. I'm famished." She offered Deacon a smile before focusing her eyes back in on her plate, assembling a taco absentmindedly all while her cheeks were tinged a distinctive rose. It was only now that she realized just how far Deacon's tail had traveled, her leg muscles tensing in surprise but soon relaxing again. His put on innocence had no issue in fooling her, and she somehow found the unusual contact pleasant.

The bear girl was quick to dig in, proving that despite her small stature she packed quite the ravenous appetite. Her eyes closed as she processed the flavor, a satisfied 'mmm' rumbling from her before she got right back to tearing into her taco. "This is fantastic! I'm glad I went with what you wanted." She smiled up at Deacon, just a dab of guacamole on her lower lip, but she didn't seem to notice.

Deacon got to work making and eating his food as well, double stacking tortillas with cheese in between them to make sure they didn't fall apart. He gave Jazz a sideways smile as she seemed to thoroughly enjoy the offerings of food. His tail had stopped advancing, mostly because he was too focused on his food to bother with it.

When he noticed the guacamole on her lip, Deacon almost mentioned it to her so she could wipe it off. But he stopped himself, having an even better idea. "Hey," he said, grabbing her attention away from her food for just a second, long enough to catch her off guard with a kiss that let him get the guacamole. "So, like I was saying earlier. If it doesn't have to not be a date... would you want it to be a date?"

Casual. Like he hadn't just kissed her full on the mouth without warning or prompting.

Jazz was just about to compliment Deacon's method of building his tacos, much more structurally slund than her own, when his voice made her look back in his direction again. Just as abruptly, as he'd spoken, what followed was seemingly out of absolutely nowhere, her eyes widening from the surprise of it.

Every other target of her attention faded away with the feeling of his lips against hers, very pleasant despite her lack of preparation. Acting on instinct, she pressed gently into it once she got over the initial shock a little bit, lips still parted for a few moments after it broke off.

Clearly she was having trouble processing what had just happened, and it didn't take long for her to get redder in the cheeks than Deacon had seen so far. Stammering at his question, somehow so easy for him to ask, Jazz had to look away to collect herself, trying and failing miserably to respond. She knew that she wanted more of this, however, eventually giving a few nods while she fidgeted with the tablecloth.

"Then I guess that settles it, huh?" Deacon didn't ask permission to go in for a second kiss, his lips capturing Jazz's eagerly. He figured he wouldn't get any resistance from her, even as his tail slid up to rest on her thigh under her dress.

Pulling back barely again, he smirked a bit and gave her another peck on the lips. He whispered conspiratorially, as if telling her a great secret, "maybe we should finish dinner though. Don't wanna fill up on dessert."

Just as soon as she had barely started recovering from the first sudden kiss, Jazz found herself right in the midst of another one, a little squeak of surprised leaving her (albeit muffled). Shocked as she was, it was obvious that she wasn't against it, gradually releasing the bunched up bit of tablecloth in her hand and pressing gently into it.

Still at a loss for words once it ended, especially after Deacon's teasing comment, Jaz, promptly returned her attention to stuffing herself with tacos as efficiently as she could manage. With her frenzied, panicky pace it only took her a couple more minutes to finish up, this time wiping her mouth with a napkin and sipping at her water.

Still struggling to get her racing thoughts in a communicable order, the bear girl eventually made a move of her own to her surprise, shakily sliding a hand across the table to softly grip the demon's. "That, um...I mean. That was really nice, so...yeah. Yes. Um. I really liked it."

Deacon couldn't help but laugh a little at how frantically Jazz ate the rest of her meal. Apparently she wanted some more dessert. Not that he could blame her. "Okay okay. Don't choke, sweetheart. I'm not exactly qualified to help with that."

Her hand on his made him smile over at her once the meal was done. Turning his hand, Deacon ran his thumb gingerly across her knuckles. "Glad you enjoyed it," he replied with a nod. "You wanna go ahead and get out of here? I could go for something sweet." The innuendo in his voice was obvious. It was a first date, but she already wasn't reacting negatively to his tail up her dress, so he was kind of wondering how far he could take things.
