> Bart

Bart was pulling out all the stops this time. He wasn't just going to sit around and yell out his lungs for nothing--No. He was leaving a mark.

The sort that's eye-catching, noticeable, the kind that everyone will see because at the moment, he is quite literally in the middle of the open ground in the school vandalizing the cement-paved ground with his artistic talent, his political chalk art. He was covered in multi-colored chalk dust that the tip of this fingers couldn't even be told apart from the chalk in his hand with how thick the dust was on them.

No one could argue that he had taste in color and art, yeah. Any art student should commend him for it--masterful use of the pastel chalk color, symbolism, but people should notice more what he was trying to do. His political message, his call for a rightful election, and equality among its students. Various messages such as "Vote wisely!", "Act for a better SA!" and the sort were littered on the pavement.

Bart was feeling pretty accomplished, as he marveled at his latest work, both at his craft and his continuing effort of proving that he can make a difference in this god-forsaken place.

Wei was tired.

This always happened when he campaigned. He would, inevitably, campaign way too hard and end up eating more than his fair share of shit at some point, fall ill or sick and end up in the infirmary, but Wei wouldn't let himself go out that way. He would see this to the end this time around. He would campaign up until the votes were counted and the winner was chosen, and he might even keep campaigning past that point.

He was here to win.

At least, that's what he thought, before he tripped on the step and landed face first into chalk drawing on the ground.

When he finally separated from it, there was a hole in someone's art in the shape of a monkey landing on the ground. All of the chalk had rubbed off straight into Wei's fur.

"Ow.... oh crap! I'm sorry!"

Oh, of course Bart was aware there were tons of people passing but generally all of them avoided stepping on the the chalk when they passed. He noticed some give odd looks on the chalk art, some also looked at him like he was crazy.

It was all according to plan. In both ways. He was going to make his campaigns extravagant and he was going to prove to this certain rat man that he can win this game of school-based politics. Or at least make enough noise that it will reach his brother and further ruin his life. It was a win-win situation. At least he thinks so.

As he was just about to finish up, this random stranger walked by and coincidentally tripped and landed on one of his chalk art. His reaction was pretty immediate as he let out a really loud groan. "Hey, what the hell man?!"

The monkey boy got up and apologized which Bart could have responded more positively but, "Yeah, you're sorry. Tell that to the time I spent making these. Your apology is totally worth it, right?" he spat. He was irritated--really, he did spend a few hours making all these (essentially missing classes more than he intended). Now it was smudged thanks to this monkey.

"What are you gonna do about it? Keep apologizing?" Clearly, Bart had no intention of helping Wei get up. He was just standing over him, his arms crossed with an unimpressed look on his face.

Wei was, truthfully, too dizzy from sleep to really understand what he'd landed on. When he stood up, he tried to brush the chalk off her hands and fur. It was easier in theory than it was in reality. No matter how many times he tried to brush it off his fur, it just left a dusty film on him.

He'd need to take like, five showers to really get clean from that spill. His hands ached, and Wei knew without looking at them that he'd peeled them with he fell. He flexed his hands with the pain.

Of course, the kid already felt bad for landing onto someone else's chalk drawing, and even worse when he noticed that it was clearly an advertisement to vote for the artist for student council. He was angry at himself. He couldn't believe he just ruined someone's campaign. He wasn't that kind of monkey. He didn't like to ruin anyone's anything.

The other guy had all the right in the world to yell at him, but Wei didn't take being yelled at so well. He leaned away from the guy, his whole body getting smaller at the sound of his irritation. This reminded him too much of his school days, of being with the other monkey children who laughed and teased.

"I--...I didn't mean to ruin it--" It was hard to keep his voice from cracking. He really didn't want to start crying, but here he was.
