Her skin is entirely intact for the most part, but there's two large holes in her head that go through her skull in a diagonal trajectory that makes it easy for the dragon to crawl through. Her eyes are red from discoloration as well. Yes that sounds weird, but just go with it. It's a zombie. And oh, her mouth is stitched together. She wants the stitches gone.
Vella wears goth girl clothes. This means she wanders about in striped socks and wears mostly dark color palettes with skull designs. She prefers dresses and skirts, so that's what she wears exclusively. Pants can be rather annoying to put on when you're dead. Tight pants especially are annoying. She never bothers wearing makeup anymore, but she does still wear jewelry from time to time. Refusing to lie down, the head chose to communicate with loan sharks. These loan sharks helped them out of their bind and gave them the funds they needed to keep going. There was just one issue though: the ludicrous amount of debt they would have to pay back to the loan sharks. Threats were delivered to the family. If they were not compensated for their services, then there would be huge repercussions. Their reputations and their lives were at stake.
This led to a downward spiral as more effort was put in to prevent the deterioration of their public facades while also paying back the loan sharks. This eventually linked them with the criminal world as they began their work playing as the middle man for many illegal exchanges. This was a way of performing paid favors. Various items were exchanged via these meetings. Sometimes it was drugs; sometimes it was plans to perform an operation; sometimes it was even creatures or people. Most were resolved fairly peacefully, but there were a few rough encounters here or there.

When the blonde spotted the girl watching them, she raised Hell about it and had her grabbed and dragged into the center of the room. Vella stared fearfully at the drug lord. Her pastel pink clothes directly contradicted the furious glare on her pale face. She shivered in terror as whimpers escaped her lips. That was when Abia broke out into a devilish smirk.
"Boys, looks like we'll have to silence a mouse."
The girl screamed as she was held down on the ground. Then Abia stepped in with a box of tools and sewed the girl's mouth shut. Many tears rolled down Justine's face as she was propped up onto her knees. That was when one thug pulled out a gun. He lifted her ponytail and placed it against the side of her head. On Defan's mark, the girl was shot dead. The tools were disposed of, and the gun had a silencer on it. All of the people involved wore gloves. The scene of the crime was cleaned up and the body was placed into a temporary space before being set up in such a way to imply an accident at a different location.
There was no proper autopsy done, and it was a closed casket wake. The proceedings aroused the suspicions of her loyal familiar Vojin. He was a dragon that served the Sephtis family for many years. He was a mirror dragon trained in combat for the purpose of acting as a bodyguard. He especially became fond of Vella; he watched her grow up and took care of her. He was a bodyguard to her and had a handsome human form that he tended to her in. Vojin chose to investigate Vella's death. He managed to figure out that there was something off about the "accident" and that the head was clearly closed lips about it.
This left him with only one option: find out from the dead girl herself.
He dug up the young actress's body and used his fading link with her and his inherent magical nature as a dragon to bring her back to life via the dark arts. However, this was not normal necromancy; he was reviving her to be purposefully sentient and to have her memories when she woke up. Because of the process he used, he ended up sacrificing a lot of magical energy to ensure that Justine Marvella Sephtis would come back to life.

She rose from her grave with memories of almost everything but her death. Her death was so traumatic for her that her mind blocked the memory out.
