A cabin in the woods

Wonderful.

First thing she hears from him as soon as he regains consciousness was this garbage. Hecate stood by the doorway, watching him without response for a few seconds before flicking on the light switch. The room was immediately flooded with light revealing a near empty room, besides the table in one corner with a a box of what could be assumed as tools on top, and what seemed to be a board hidden under cloth.

"I wouldn't worry about meals. I'm pretty sure you can survive another night or two without proper meals until I have you transported back to base," she spoke, walking towards Eden with slow and steady steps. In truth, she hadn't contacted anyone about Eden--it still felt too soon to go back somehow. "I spent days and nights trying to pin you down; do you really think I'd let you off so easy?"

A smirk pulled at Hecate's lips when he'd mentioned his past pursuers before her. Of course, of course. Her sole job of being here wasn't to kill him anyway--not that she could. Maybe the consequences of returning with a dead test subject could be worse than she would like to take. "If I had to kill you, you know I wouldn't just run off without making sure your vital organs are irreparable."

Hecate's eyes led back to the board at the mention of it, letting out a breathy chuckle. "Too full of ourselves, aren't we?" she scoffed, making her way to the board. Hecate didn't really have to hide anything as far as she was concerned--no, it was certainly not a shrine as he expected. Hecate considered herself an organized woman and every organized investigator needed some place to lay out their resources.

She pulled down the cloth and underneath it was a board with notes, photos, strings and pins scattered all over. There was a map of the city in the middle of it, pins dotted across it, each with strings that lead to a set of photos and a ripped notebook page.

"You're harder to trace when you're not Zach, you psycho."

Hecate's eyes narrowed at Eden at his remark, a mix of disbelief and irritation. She could never understand how some people's minds just worked--it baffled her how Eden even found it remotely appealing because she was pretty sure most people would feel discomfort from being observed.

Eden's next suggestion didn't help with her current train of thought. She flinched, suddenly grabbing him by the arm and twisting it to his back before shoving him towards the nearest wall. "I didn't say anything about torture. The plan was to keep you here in isolation from the city until the officials arrive you sleazy bastard! Stop twisting this situation around!" It wasn't hard to miss how her voice had cracked.

Uncertain. Hecate didn't like that word. She never did, but much as she didn't want to admit it, that was certainly the case right now. Her hands clenched into fists, still trying to take control of herself. "Slight changes in the plan," she began, keeping her voice low to prevent it from breaking, "I have to wait for orders after I inform them of the objective being completed. Until then I can't make any decisions about your fate," she added, sounding more like she was reciting a command than explaining her task.

She raised her gaze to glare at him, making her way to him as she contuined. "The city officials don't need to be involved in this and if you think I'll let the police catch me, then you clearly don't know who I am." Hecate grabbed him by the collar and shoved him back to the wall, but this time she didn't let him go, keeping him in place. "Besides, you're stuck here right now. Do you really think you can do anything about that?"

Hecate really wanted to rip his mouth off at that moment. She needed him to shut up. Normally she would have easily managed out of this situation, especially now that Eden was in her custody but no--she had to let the small voice get the best of her and stall before she even thought of informing her superiors. She literally brought this on herself and all she could do was wonder why she even did.

"How much fun do you actually get out of this, 3817?" Hecate seethed, returning to addressing him by his number out of spite. She managed to get her other arm between them, grabbing him by the chin so she could turn his head upwards. "Tell me: how much fun do you actually get trying to get under my skin?"
