Personality Description: Crown Prince Valerian Sorrel Briarfang retains a quiet, serious demeanor. He handles his princely duties with the utmost care in spite of his rather young age. He wants to be perceived as a strong, reliable leader in the future and doesn’t do anything halfway.
With regards to his friends Valerian is fiercely loyal and protective of them. Valerian judges others based on their skill sets rather than who they were born to.
In general he wishes to perform to the best of his abilities, and means well for everyone.
Active Abilities:
Marcus Wendel Grey: Speaking that name allows Val to transform into a large fox like creature roughly the size of a horse. When in this form, Val’s physical abilities are doubled and he loses access to his other abilities. This creature exhales flames and embers from its mouth, however it cannot breathe them in the capacity as a dragon, instead using the flames to enhance its bite. Bites from this creature will burn targets on top of them being bitten. Valerian can be forcibly reverted back to his fae form if it is exposed to salt.
Queen’s Thorn: Valerian’s personal crossbow. This weapon can only be used by him, and seems to have a personality of her own. Queen can be summoned from a pocket dimension should Val call her name. Bolts fired from her will naturally target said weak points if Valerian has found them. These shots will never miss a stationary target, and are difficult for someone with standard human reflexes to dodge even when they know it's coming. Those with supernatural reflex can avoid shots fired noticeably easier. She will not fire should someone considered a friend is in the way of the shot.
Invisibility: Through the use of glamour, Valerian can make himself invisible in one minute on and off intervals.
Passive Abilities:
Physique: Valerian possesses peak human strength, and can reach a top speed of 40 mph. He heals at a rate of three times faster than an average human. He possesses a wolf’s senses of hearing and smell, as well as a hawk’s sight. They are able to see in total darkness. Val also possesses bullet dodging reflexes, and a perfect sense of balance and can jump thirty feet from a standing position.
Bramblesnare Blessings: Fae of Bramblesnare are able to move without making sound, and lack strong scents so long as they are within wooded areas or their court.
Mockingbird: Valerian can mimic voices and sounds, as well as skillfully throw up to 15 feet his voice to great effect.
Beast tongue: Valerian is able to speak with other predatory animals such as wolves, birds of prey, and bears.
Weaknesses:
Iron: As with many fae, iron is his bane. Iron at its best causes mild itching when in close proximity, however if they are put into direct contact, it will leave burns, and permanent scarring. Iron is poisonous if injected into the bloodstream or ingested.
Salt: Salt can disrupt Val’s transformation if it is thrown at him. Crossing salt lines has a similar effect. Salt rings or rooms lined with salt will completely disable any active magic he might try to utilize.
Compelled to Honesty: He is unable to tell blatant verbal lies to other sapient beings. At best his magic could be stripped away for a long period of time. At worst he will be executed by the forest itself, or changed into a beast.
True Voice: Bramblesnare fae hide their voices, and spoken language from outsiders. The voices people hear these fae speaking with are effectively secondary voices that they've adopted to speak with outsiders. Should an outsider hear their true voice they will lose the ability to speak.
Debts: Thanking them, or giving gifts compels the fae to seek out methods of repaying the gift giver.Inversely, they tend to expect something in return for kindness they offer.
Biography: Prince Valerian Sorrel Briarfang is the only child to the ruling house of Bramblesnare Court. In his childhood he wanted for nothing, being trained from an early age to be the best hunter and ruler the court could have. Unfortunately, in his efforts to make his father proud, he gradually made his father jealous. Many members of the court noted that within enough time, Valerian would surpass his father in skill. This prompted his father to assign him to hunt a single beast that had avoided some of the best hunters in the court, all on his own. He wasn’t to return until he completed his task.
After several weeks however, Valerian did return, and with a human in tow. He not only successfully hunted the beast but returned them to their original selves. His father was not pleased with this, and began giving Val and his party increasingly difficult tasks to complete. It was eventually becoming clear that his father intended to get him killed.
Knowing this, Valerian gathered up his trusted friends, and travelled along one of the many hidden paths within the forest, emerging in the Forbidden Forest on Manta Carlos. They made camp for a time, scouting the area until they discovered the city. From there they sought asylum with the local government, taking up residence at Starlight Academy.
