Birthday: June 12
Gender: Male
Species: Golem
Category: Student
Class: College
Grade: Year 2
College Major: Magic theory
Career: Clerk at Cunningham Stoneworkers
Appearance Description: At an initial glance, Brewer looks like he could be a demon or minotaur. He has a pair of black curling horns, and a long cow like tail. He generally has an uninterested, or at least uniquely blank expression on his face most of the time. Brewer stands at 6’4” and has violet eyes. He tends to dress in clothes that hide his figure.
Personality Description: Brewer is generally stoic and silent when in the presence of others. He tends to fall back onto baseline functions that came with his programming when he’s unsure of what to do in social situations. This as implied makes him come off as very stiff and robotic. He is polite, and generally speaking direct when it does come to interacting with people. He tends to be much more rational than emotional, meaning he can come off very cold. Brewer is however fully sapient, and aware of what he is. He also understands that if he is to thrive in the world he needs to rely less on his base programming, and more on his gut.
Brewer has fragmented memories of his former life. He often contemplates how much of him is really like his original self, and how much of him is really him.
Brewer does genuinely enjoy interacting with other people, and learning. When he manages to make a friend he’s sure to be loyal to them to a fault. Even with people who aren’t his friends, he will reciprocate kindness shown to him in some way, shape, or form.
Active Abilities:
Masonry: Brewer can reform and shape existing earth within thirty feet of him. He tends to use this to create barricades, simple traps, and even tunnels and trenches.
Arcane cannon: Brewer can fire explosive bolts, and beams of magical energy from his hands and eyes. He cannot fully control said energy, but the energy will vaguely veer towards targets. That said, it is entirely possible to dodge them so long as you can read their trajectory.
Reinforcement: Brewer can harden his body via magic. This allows him to become highly resistant to mundane, and magic attacks. Brewer can also use this ability on people or stone structures he has created, so long as he remains in contact with them. Brewer is unable to fire his arcane bolts or his masonry while in this state
Passive Abilities:
Physique: Brewer is capable of lifting three tons, and reaching speeds of 40 mph. Brewer is made of a rather damage resistant clay. The toughness of his “flesh” is comparable to the rubber found on car tires. Brewer’s bones are also cast from specialized stone and covered in intricate runes.
Body of clay: Brewer is not affected by abilities that would specifically target living creatures. His mind is immune to mind altering abilities. He doesn’t breathe. His body doesn’t get tired from physical activity or require sleep. Brewer does not need to eat food for nourishment. He is however capable of consuming food and beverages.
Sixth and Seventh senses: Brewer can identify and detect types of magic actively being used within his general vicinity. Brewer can also detect people’s presences within thirty feet of him so long as they’re on the ground.
Regeneration: Brewer can reattach lost body parts, or rebuild new ones by drawing in existing earth to his body. The reconstruction process happens when Brewer is in physical contact with any sort of earth. Rebuilding usually take a couple of minutes.
Weaknesses:
Nullification magic: Any sort of power nullifiers will completely shut Brewer’s body down. While he is still aware of things happening around him, he is effectively paralyzed until he is removed from the nullifier’s field.
Water: Brewer cannot swim. If submerged he will find his mobility reduced, and be forced to trudge along the bottom of said body of water until he can find a way back to land.
Central core: Housed in his chest, Brewer’s central core houses his soul. Damaging it will cause his abilities to go on the fritz, or not be accessible at all. Destroying it completely will cause his soul to escape, effectively killing him. The central core is the only part of him that must be repaired with care by a skilled mason. Inversely if his body is destroyed, but the core remains intact, he can simply be rebuilt.
Biography: Gideon Cunningham was a master mason. In their world Masons were mages who created golems. Gideon was known for his near lifelike creations with intricate spell weaving. This meant his golems were incredibly well tuned for the tasks they were built for. Gideon’s son was his apprentice, and took right to the family business.Unfortunately, he was killed in an accident at their quarry.
Grief stricken, Gideon performed an illegal ritual, crafting a new body to house his son’s soul in the hopes of bringing him back to life. The ritual almost worked, his son’s soul wasn’t damaged however. The person he made was not his son, and yet also his son. He named himself Brewer, the first word that happened to come to mind. At first they didn’t speak much at all. His father treated him like he was another golem. Albeit with the need to hide him from prying eyes. But over time they did establish a bond.
The authorities were casting growing suspicions however. Brewer, feeling the natural need to defend his father did all he could to find a solution. He found it in the form of an ancient portal. He insisted on sending Gideon alone through it, however Gideon pulled Brewer along as well. They wound up on Manta Carlos, where they have since started up a shop building simple golems, and custom charms for people.
