Appearance Description: Alaric has his father’s red hair, and his mother’s pointy ears. He also has horns, a set of large wings, and a long robust tail all of which are very warm to the touch. He stands at 5’8” and generally dresses in the clothes from his home mixed with styles from this world. He also has some formal wear for those special occasions.
Alaric’s rarely seen dragon form is large, quadrupedal, and covered in thick black and red scales.
Personality Description: The Drakenhardts are typically seen as a fairly noble house. Even its less orthodox members carry their names with pride, dignity, and a sense of purpose. Then there’s this irreverent, reckless little shit. He has issues with authority figures, or rather haughty people who flaunt their positions like it makes them special. There’s also those who stare down their noses at him for his status as a half breed. His draconic pride won’t allow it, and his elven spite says act against it.
In spite of all of this, Alaric is the type that if you treat him well he’ll return it in kind. He’s may be the friend that gets you into trouble, but he’s also they type to help you out of it without a second thought. He doesn’t know much about what lies beyond his isolated home, but he’s developed a natural curiosity.
Active Abilities:
Shifting: Alaric is capable of shifting between his elven and dragon form at will.
Pyrokinesis: Alaric can generate fire from his body and manipulate it within a twenty foot radius of himself. He is capable of shaping it, into various detailed shapes, fireballs, or launching arcing streams. Alaric’s maximum temperature caps out at the melting point of steel, inversely he can generate fire that is effectively harmless.
Flame Shifting: Alaric can shift himself into fire. His temperature in this form is the same as a standard fire. While in this form Alaric can shift himself into small fire tornadoes, or travel across the ground, and up walls as a small isolated inferno. Alaric can merge with other existing fires and control them, however the bigger they are, the harder they are to control. Larger fires also put a strain on him, tiring him out faster, and forcing him to revert back to normal. He can also use this ability defensively, by allowing attacks to pass through his body. Being hit by water of any kind causes him great pain, and forces him to revert back into his standard form. Other things such as fire extinguishers, and large amounts of earth can also be used to similar effect. This ability can only be used from his human form. He can only maintain this form for roughly two minutes before reverting back to his human form. Rapidly shifting into this state causes Alaric to become nauseous.
Passive Abilities:
Physique: Alaric in his humanoid form is capable of lifting up to one ton, and has a running speed of 70 mph. He possesses inhuman reflexes, and has a perfect sense of balance. The scales running down his tail, and on his wings are as hard as steel, and feel like hot pavement. In spite of his frail looks his elven skin doesn’t bruise easily either. His hearing and smelling are on par with a wolf He possesses claws capable of slicing steel, and his horns possess a similar strength. His wings do allow for him to fly.
Vital Flames: Alaric isn’t just immune to heat and fire, he’s energized, and healed by them. When exposed to flames of any kind, Alaric can heal from the most severe wounds over time. He’s capable of regenerating limbs, and organs with the exception of his head. Minor wounds can take a few seconds to a minute to heal. More serious wounds take a minimum of ten minutes to heal. These flames have to be produced by someone else, and need to be reasonably maintained. Alaric can also eat fire for nourishment. If he is fully healed and hit by flames, his physical abilities increase by a quarter. In warmer weather, Alaric requires much less food and sleep.
Weaknesses:
Water/Water magic: Regular water doesn’t physically hurt him, but all of his abilities are locked until he’s dried off completely. Alaric is harmed by water based magic. Regardless of its nature, harmful or helpful, Alaric cannot be physically exposed to it. If he is it has a sort of acidic effect, or perhaps more accurately, the same effects fire has on a normal person.
Properness curse: Alaric has a curse on him that causes any profanity he says to come out backwards. This was placed on him in an attempt to embarrass him, and teach him some manners. I didn’t work out like they planned.
Biography: Alaric is the son of Lugh Drakenhardt and a sun elf princess. It was a complicated political marriage with all sorts of restrictions placed on it. But somehow, they managed to have a child, which made the elve’s heads spin. Alaric was effectively raised under the elves. On one hand he was given the education befitting of a noble, but on the other he wasn’t acknowledged as anything other than a freak by many around him. This led to his acting out.
Drakenhardts do believe in learning both halves of one’s cultures. Lugh hearing that he was both becoming a handful, and his mother and him were receiving increased restrictions against them opted to pull them out of the country. This was backed by Axindr himself, who reminded them of what he could do should they try anything that would actually violate their treaty. Alaric has since been sent to attend school at Starlight Academy.
