Clearly Rafael hadn't quite expected the response Felen gave him. But it had been a polite way of telling him he wouldn't answer his questions. It made sense that wasn't received with all smiles. Not that the reaction made Felen rethink what he'd said.

But hebwasnt heartless or without compassion. Felen kept the man's gaze but allowed his face to relax slightly and his tone of voice shift slightly to be a little more compassionate. "Sir, she is better tonight than she was after it all went down."

And Felen noticeably turned his gaze towards where Zora was indeed out and about, taking part in traditions and being with her family. Not locked away in a hotel room, afraid that leaving would bring only more ruin upon those she cares about. Yes, better. There was plenty left to heal and deal with, but that was private and Felen wouldnt share those details.

"Is there something more appropriate I could be doing sir? It appears we have a significant stock of wood now." A change in subject, or looking for an excuse to get away from the man? Who knows.

Felen's words offered Rafael only a modicum of comfort. However, the old druid wizard had been around long enough to tell that Zoraida, whatever her state of mind at the moment, was in good and competent hands. And because he knew this, he would, as promised drop the subject.

"Hmm... let's see," Rafael mused aloud as he looked at the impressive pile of wood before them, "I need to set up the fireworks display for later. How familiar are you with pyrotechnics?" he asked Felen, thinking it'd be a good idea to get the display set up now, so they could just light it later around midnight, sit back and enjoy it.

Felen shook his head. "Our incendiary devices relied more on magic than a powder accelerant i'm afraid. I could help but I can promise no degree of expertise with the matter."

But he left the decision up to Rafael- he knew more about the kinds of fireworks they had planned to use. "I would probably be better at helping transport whatever you have in mind to where it needs to go rather than actually set them up. But I just need a moment first."

With that Felen turned like he was going to head towards Zora and stopped. She was clearly a little busy talking to the young Lamia and he decided she didn't require his services at the moment. No need to intrude. He turned back to Rafael and nodded. "Nevermind. I'm not doing anything else so i would be glad to assist."

Iesha jerked up a bit from her seat and spun her head to the person whom called out her name. At first she thought it was Celeste but looking at the woman she was clearly not her. Unsure who she was, Iesha just nodded her head slightly to acknowledge the lady. When she introduced herself as Celeste's niece was when Iesha figured that Celeste must have told Zora about her. Not like there where many other lamia here.

"O-hhh... yessss that is me. Ummm... I'm Iesha... h-hi. I was... napping a little. T-the fire feels r-really nice a-at this time. D-did you want talk a-a-about sssomething?" perked up the lamia, trying to take her attention off of her thoughts of Celeste from earlier and give Zora her undivided attention. Even if she did feel a little groggy.

Zora smiled warmly at Iesha and nodded in understanding. "I used to do the same when I was younger," she admitted. "I wanted so badly to stay up all night and enjoy the festivities, but more often than not. I ended up falling asleep near the bonfire," she said with a little, and somewhat wistful, smile as she remembered her mother gently rousing her because she had drifted off under the comforting warmth of the fire.

"No, not anything in particular," she said to Iesha's question, hugging her own knees to her chest as she relaxed. "I just thought I'd introduce myself. See if things were okay. You seemed a little wistful earlier," Zora told her.

"Perfect," Rafael said when Felen agreed to helping him out with the fireworks after checking up on his granddaughter first - something that was not lost on Rafael, and only served to erase any doubts that the druid may have had about Felen's loyalty.

"So... You know how to make fireworks using magic?!" he said, clearly impressed by this. It was a skill that had once been almost but lost among many in the magic community - fear of repercussions, of being labeled "a witch", had kept many magic users from using such a wondrous display of magic openly in front of non-magic users.

"It has been ages since I have met anyone else versed in such a talent," he admitted as he gave the pig he was roasting another turn.

Iesha returned a faint smile to Zora, not wanting to correct her that she was mainly by the bonfire because she was trying to warm up a bit given her cold blooded nature. But in way they where not to far off.

"I-its actually been awhile sssince I last went to a f-festival like thisss. Always ssso much g-going on." admitted Iesha as she turns her head to get a good look around at the event going on around her. Where she looked she could see people bustling around, walking and talking. They all seemed to be having such of good time here...

"W-wistful?" spoke up Iesha as she turns her attention back to Zora, looking a little worried "I... I don't know that word. What is... ummm... wistful?"

"Hmm, how do I explain it..." Zora remarked thoughtfully as she considered how to explain the term to Iesha. "Wistfulness is like a vague feeling of longing. or thoughtful wishing. Sometimes it's melancholic too, like how'd you wish something was still a certain way, or that things could have been different," Zora explained as she looked at the younger woman, hoping she had explained it well enough.

"Ah, no. I'm afraid I'm not as well-versed in spellcraft as others where I come from. I was always a little better with strategy and weapons than that sort of thing. But we had many tools provided by those who did work in magic. Devices for summoning flares or gouts of flame," Felen admitted with regret. Mostly regret for accidentally misleading Rafael and getting the man's hopes up. "Perhaps I could learn or, more likely, find another 'assistant' to use for that. Like Polgid but different."

"O-ohh... sssso that is what it means..." was all Iesha would stutter as she hangs her head a bit. Her gaze moves to the fire, flickering bright like some distant memory. She hugs onto her rolling tail for comfort much like how Zora hugs onto her legs as she then says with sigh. "I guess... I guess I am feeling w-wistful. I-it all just... feels ssso f-f-familar... being here. Like... uhhh... day jah... ssssomething? I forget the word but its when y-you feel like sssomething happened before? R-r-repeats?"

Iesha's eyes shoot back to Zora with both apprehension and curiosity. "Y-you know what I am t-t-talking about yessss?" she asked while she rested her head on that snake like tail as a pillow in her arms

"Deja vu," Zora supplied gently for Iesha. "And yes, I have felt it a few times in my life," she admitted as she stared thoughtfully at the bonfire. "Sometimes in the most unexpected ways or at the weirdest times. It's that feeling of being in a place or having done something before."

Looking at the young lamia for a moment, and noting her self-comforting body language, Zora couldn't help but feel a sort of momentary kinship with her. "San Juan, Saint John," Zora said, correcting herself. "Is a magical night. There is a lot of energy in the air tonight, both good and bad..." she admitted with a tiny frown. She could sense both somehow. Historically, tonight was a night for witches for a reason. Though most years, it failed to bother her... this year, however, she was more exposed emotionally and she could sense things she hadn't felt in years.

"Can I ask what tonight reminds you of?" she asked with polite curiosity.

Felen's admission did not dampen Rafael's enthusiasm too overly much. Admittedly, he had hoped, for a brief moment, that Zora's bodyguard possessed the old knowledge, but he was aware that the skill was not widely used anymore. Modern fireworks were easy to use, beautiful, and they didn't deplete a witch's mana or energy like the magical ones did.

"That's quite alright," he told Felen. "It's a skill that uses tons of mana and that's probably why a lot of witches have all but lost the knowledge," he explained as he gave the pig roasting over to one of the hired help.

"I could set off a few magical ones on my own, but it's just as easy to set up the charges and position them for later," he said as he wiped his hand on a towel, and gestured to Felen that he should follow him to an area away from the main party where a few boxes of fireworks were already waiting to be set up.
