Felen waited patiently and silently as Zora struggled to find which words felt appropriate. Not pressing the issue in the slightest, having done what he felt was right in bringing the matter to her attention. It wasnt his place to decide how she should react to it.

He knew some, but definitely not all of the things grieving Zora but it wouldn't have changed his opinion or views at all if he did know about everything.

Felen nodded as she spoke but did not approach her until she finished. Stepping forward softly, and trying to keep that softness in the tone of his voice, "I have seen my share of death. Felt the cold embrace as death tried to consume my own body." His demonic hand flexed at that, and gave the sneaking impression it wasnt fully Felen's doing.

He moved to sit by Zoraida so he could continue. "Honestly I cannot say whether you have some evil curse around you, but I have not experienced it if you do. And in my experience, death is rarely so predictable. From what I've seen death strikes randomly and unexpectedly regardless of what precautions we do or dont take," he explained softly but firmly. Yes there could be a curse but coincidence was far, far more likely.

"Certain emergency measures not withstanding," he had to add as he looked down at his demonic hand. He'd cheated his own death by letting something far greater than him in. But that was a special case.

Zora watched quietly as Felen sat down on the grass beside her. It was nice to be able to talk openly about how she had been feeling lately without the added feeling of being judged. Or worse, having someone humour her or think she was exaggerating. She sensed none of that as she slowly opened up to Felen.

"You are very right, death is not predictable," she agreed, her tone thoughtful, as she turned her head slightly to look at his demon hand and wondered, not for the first time either, how he had come to possess it. Normally her senses would have cautioned her against Felen, but for some reason, maybe it was the purity of his heart or of his purpose - she really did not know - but something overrode the uneasy sense she normally got from cursed objects or beings.

"I do know I'm not cursed," she began as she looked up from his hand. "It just feels like it some days. And I admit that not sleeping properly and isolating myself or burying my head in work is probably not helping things either." she admitted with a resigned sigh jjust as a pretty orangey colored butterfly landed on her knee, quietly catching her attention. Butterflies were omens supposedly.

'Do you believe there's anything beyond the void, beyond death, Felen?" she asked her bodyguard as she focused on the butterfly on her leg, careful to stay still lest she scare it away.

Felen noticed Zora's gaze as it lingered on his monstrous demonic hand. Though he wasnt ashamed of it, and had spent enough time with it that weird looks didnt necessarily bother him, he was still self-conscious about it on some level. Holding it back in less of a plain view or minimizing its use in day to day activities, at least in public. So it made sense when his gut reaction was to cover it or draw her attention away from it.

But he didnt. His arm twitched like he was about to pull it out of sight but he swallowed that feeling and left it where it was. Pulling it away would only serve to make Zoraida feel bad, and she certainly had more than enough bad feelings to deal with already. It remained as it was until she was distracted by the butterfly, and then the claws clenched and once to relieve the tension in them.

He closed his eyes in response to her question. Did she want reassurance? In the end he decided to just be honest.

"That's more of a complicated question than it might seem. I do not believe that my entire being and soul will live on after my death, no. But I do believe parts of me will live on and enrich the lives of those who remain and those who come after me. Any energy, magical or otherwise, will be cast out and spread through whatever world I'm in at the time. And anything I've done for my community, any accomplishments I leave behind, will remain. Though that may only be true for my people. There are those here that directly prove that is not how all deaths are handled."

As Felen spoke to her openly about his own thoughts on the afterlife, Zora listened calmly and with great interested as her gaze stared unseeingly at the butterfly that had, just moments earlier, landed on her leg.

"I honestly don't know what to think anymore," Zora admitted when Felen was finished describing his point of view. She liked the idea of a person living on through their actions, but she also liked the idea of life being an endless circle. And that when a person died their soul, or life energy, didn't die with them but continued on somehow.

"I grew up in a household where death was not considered our final journey. That our life forces could continue on, becoming part of nature or even being reborn in another living object or vessel," she mused as she watched the butterfly take flight.

"However, I have not really experienced any of that," she said with a tiny frown."And find such an idea difficult to believe. Dead is dead in my mind, and you don't come back from that." Zora said as she thought about her mother and her brother and other people she had known that had passed away.

Felen cocked his head to the side as he listened carefully to how Zora was focusing so much on the finality of death. The loss and the pain. The void left by those who perished, and the frayed emotions strands involved.

He didn't have the right answers. If there was even one to be had. Life is an unwinnable battle against the unstoppable and ever encroaching force that is death for most people. But...

"Ms. Del Bosque it sounds very much like you are feeling a crisis of faith. I understand. You've seen so much pain lately that it's consuming your thoughts and leaving a shadow over your heart. If life is a cycle like you were taught then to feel the magic of rebirth and whatever comes after death probably isn't meant for us to experience directly until it's our time."

Felen slowly leans back to lie on the soft ground next to Zora. "Do me a favor Ma'am. Lay back like this and just close your eyes. Breathe in and out slowly for a couple minutes and tell me what you feel. What you hear and what you smell. I'll keep you safe, worry not about your surroundings."

For his part he had no interest in closing his eyes. The effects of nature wouldn't really impact him like he was predicting they might on the forlorn woman with druidic heritage.

Felen's words were eerily accurate and they made Zora blanch and then look away and down, ashamed and embarrassed by the fact that, yes, her thoughts were consumed lately with death and the idea of losing those around her. And in some ways, it felt like more than just a crisis of faith to Zora. It felt like she had no faith left at all. No faith that things would ever get better, and a very tangible feeling of panic and despair at times that Broen's suicide had broken her beyond all repair and that she'd never properly recover from it.

Watching Felen out of the corner of her eye, Zora hesitated momentarily when he asked her to lie down in the grass with him and close her eyes.

"Okay..." she replied softly and without question, deciding to place her trust in Felen and the fact that he knew what he was doing and that he would keep her safe no matter what.

Laying back in the soft cool grass next to Felen, Zora stared up for a few minutes at the clouds that could be seen above the canopy. Feeling a mild sense of peace at the simple act of communing with nature, she closed her eyes and just relaxed, focusing first on her breathing and then after a short while, the sounds and smells of the forest surrounding them.

"I can hear birds," she said finally, "and water, I think. A stream or small river, maybe?" she stated with some uncertainty.

"And I can smell..," here she frowned, unsure of what she was smelling, her eyes still closed, "I can smell the grass, the ground and something fresh...green," she said somewhat frustrated, she couldn't identify anymore the wild herbs that were once so familiar to her.

Felen merely turned his head to keep an eye on Zora. Making no other movements, in hopes that he wouldn't disturb things too much. He was silent as minutes passed while Zora simply lay there in nature, taking it all in.

He was pleased with himself as he watched her face visibly relax. Lose the constant tension and worry lines that had been wracking her lately. Or at least until she started to sound agitated and concerned. Felen sat up and rested his elven hand on her shoulder. "It's ok, it's ok. You're sensing the nature all around you. Feeling it as much as you are hearing or smelling, if i'm not wrong," he soothed as he looked down at her face. Not making any other contact aside from the gentle touch of his hand as he tried to keep her grounded. He was there and everything was safe.

"Now tell me, do you need to actually see any of these things to sense the life in them? Passing through them and giving them the energy to do what they do?"

Zora quietened down almost immediately when as she felt Felen's hand touch her shoulder, reassuring her that everything was going to be okay. The anxiousness that persistently seemed to hang around the corners of her psyche lately, started to slowly dissolve.

Keeping her eyes closed, Zoraida turned her head a little towards Felen and listened to his voice which she found soft and calming.

"I ...I don't know. Maybe?" Zora remarked very hesitantly. She did feel something around her, something calming, but also energizing. Unfortunately, her grandfather was the one most in tune with nature and the energy surrounding them, Something Zora always had envied.

"I feel like ... when I am floating in warm water," was the best analogy she had. Water was her element, and any connection with it always made her feel better. A fact that now wasn't lost on her... she should be spending time out near the ocean, not cooped up inside. It would probably help her heal to some extent.

At Felen's question, Zora just slowly shook her head. He was right. Elves always were, especially when it came to nature she found. They were more in tune with the wprld around them than she could ever hope to be.

Felen clearly didnt know quite well enough that she was more impacted by water than nature in general. But at least it seemed to be having a positive effect anyway.

He chuckled and shook his head. Whether she saw it or not. "I have to be honest with you. I stole those sentiments from one of my superiors. And we weren't talking about nature when she said them either. Our was a focus more on the purely magical energies in life and in everything we design. It's often not possible to see the actual workings of magic but that doesnt mean the magic isnt there or that it isnt influencing us."

He removed his hand from her and stood to leave her some space. Fewer distractions. "I think though that you grasp the point I was trying to convey. Whatever healing you require, you wont find it in that hotel room. Not really. If it's nature, if it's people, or if it's the warm water you mentioned you need to seek it out. I'll assist and accompany you if you desire that but I suspect it will still be a long, slow process."

Zora slowly opened her eyes and stared calmly up at Felen as he talked. Although, she made no real attempt to sit up though and preferred to continue laying there in the grass while she listened and considered everything he was telling her.

"I know," she sighed tiredly, but not sadly. "I know now that being cooped up is not healthy, and I think I need to make some tiny, well, maybe not tiny changes, but a few real changes. Broen is gone, but I'm not. And I need to move forward somehow," she admitted with some uncertainty.

"Maybe next week, I will finally look into buying, or renting a place near the beach," she said as she sat up finally. "I miss the ocean, and I am beginning to miss not having a real home to go home to," she admitted, thinking it was time to let the house go, and find a new place to live.
