"Dragons are dragons," Evan pointed out. "And like this, I'm not sure he's even registering us. He's got bigger things on his mind."

Evan didn't answer the did he not tell you, because Straga sure as fuck had not. It explained a lot about what was happening, and the ferocity of the fight in front of him.

"Jesus Christ," he muttered under his breath, giving a brief glance back to the twins. "If I'd known this was for the title, I wouldn't have brought either of you."

"To be fair, any fight between those two had those terms attached. One of them just wasn't equipped to put up-" Aton's explanation was interrupted by a loud shrill cry. A victory roar. Tori flinched at the sound, and looked in the direction of the fight.

"Steal the win..." Aton and Destra's other regalia seemed to be satisfied. A few moments later the two of them could be seen approaching the rest of the group. They were thoroughly beaten and bloodied, their clothes were effectively shredded. They were speaking in Draconic, and it still sounded as aggressive as ever.

"And they're still bickering... so how'd things go?" Phoebe asked as if nothing was wrong. Straga just grunted, and gestured to Destra.

"Shut him down and kicked him in the balls... that's all it took..."

And then, like nothing, it was over. Evan craned his neck, but there wasn't much to see but two rapidly diminishing dragons as they shrunk right down, heading back towards them. Cori still looked mildly terrified, but Evan could at least tell that the worst was over.

"You kicked him in the balls?" Evan asked, quirking an eyebrow. "Is this a metaphorical or a literal kicking?"

Straga growled, and gave Destra a look. Phoebe and Set did what they could to not laugh. Tori was... still in a mild state of shock thanks to the whole thing.

"He tends to leave himself open down there when he comes at you. And there's no such thing as a clean fight so yeah, I went for it," Destra explained.

"He spends every fight we've had attempting this. Everything you saw was an elaborate strategy just to do that."

Destra's regalia looked at him as if to say "are you fucking kidding me?"

"I was just making good on a promise."

Evan's eyebrows didn't seem to know what to do on his face. They kept going up and down as he tried to figure out if he was supposed to be... what? Excited for Destra? Upset?

"Does that count as a win?" He asked, sounding impossibly incredulous. "That he just... kicked you in the balls?"

Did that count as a win? Was Destra in charge of the clan now that he'd fucking kicked Straga in the balls? Was the Barathos clan--which as far as Evan could tell was literally two people--in the hands of Destra because he'd...

Cori looked slightly less terrified, slowly coming down off the whole absolute horror thing. "So it's done? The challenges are all over?"

"He also pummeled me a few times, but that was the main point," Straga grunted. "Now he's going to have to start dealing with... everyone else. It should be fine though. This challenge is over. Which means I've completed two... you know what that means."

Destra growled, and idly licked one of the cuts he had on his arm and just let Straga do the talking. His regalia seemed to all varying looks of concern on their faces.

"I'm gonna have... contenders now," Destra groaned.

So he'd just lost. He'd just lost his title. Straga seemed strangely together considering what he'd just lost, and Evan ran his eyes up and down quickly, wondering if the other man had been expecting this for a while.

"Uhm," Cori said, sharing a quick glance with her sister. "You're right. This is over with. So, by the powers invested in me... blah blah blah." She stuck her hand out for Straga to take, but she didn't look terribly happy with it.

"Shake my hand, I'll give you my blessing, and then we can... part ways."

Evan glanced to Tori, and then stuck his hand out, mimicing her sister in turn. Might as well get it over with.

Destra looked between Evan and Straga as their regalia just sort of seemed to resign themselves to giving their blessing. He looked at his own regalia, who seemed to have similar opinions on the matter based on their expressions.

"You two were just in it for the cool superpowers weren't you? Eh losers," he muttered and simply headed off with his entourage. He didn't even wave or anything. Just headed out.

"He's lucky I don't have the energy to deal with him anymore. And this had better not be another trick," Straga growled as he reached out to take Cori's hand.

Evan wasn't even bothered by the insinuation he was 'just in it for the cool superpowers'. Of course he was. He'd been in it for the whole tournament thing, but that had kind of gone out the window around the time the girls had started being tricky, hadn't it?

Evan shook Tori's hand, feeling a distinct lack of... nothing.

"Is this supposed to feel special?" He asked.

Cori simply gave Straga the quickest, briefest handshake before pulling back, glancing over at Evan as if second guessing who she was pacted to.

"Not really," she said. "There's no magic lights or anything. But you have our blessings now, and your powers should start showing up... whenever."

"Well since that's over, I'm going to go and take a nap. I need to sleep off these wounds," Straga growled and turned to Evan, "I'll text you when I'm awake so we can get drinks or something."

"Enter the tournament they said, it would be fun they said," Tori frowned, giving her sister a look. She'd passed given the blessing. "I think I'm going to start looking for a therapist."

"Sometimes the cost of deception is very high," Straga growled before yawning and dragging himself off.
