Marian accepted the soda, taking the can with both of her hands, holding it close to her for a while looking as vulnerable as she could act as, while she watched James sit next to her. It was a perfect set-up, she thought quietly. "Well, I mean other than getting stuck... it was... really fun," she said, turning her face away as if she was hiding it. To James, she might have appeared to be hiding out of embarrassment.
She felt eyes on her, the weight of the bed shifting right under her telling her James had moved close. She took the timing to be perfect to look up, right in time to see him speak. Right on cue for him to close the distance between them.
Marian had to fight the urge to smirk through the kiss. All according to plan.
The shade pretended to be shocked by the development, by the "sudden change" in James' demeanor but in truth, she'd expected it all. With the stunt she pulled, it was no surprise that the boy felt some sort of ego boost. She could laugh about it, really. Marian continued to play along, responding to his kiss accordingly though making sure she wouldn't appear to be experienced with it. She dropped the can of soda, as her arms snaked around his neck, pulling him in further into the trap.
