"So, uh, Would you like to dance?" She hadn't really planned what to say, "Sorry, Thought I might as well ask."

Orange nodded her head. "Yeah, they really did. The place looks amazing."

"They really did go all out. I kinda wish they would do more things like this." He smiled and wondered if she was one of the many people he had met recently. She seemed to be older than him and most of his friends but that didn't really matter a whole lot. He was mostly just planning to talk to whomever was around and not busy. A good way to start off at one of these parties.

"I've been to plenty of balls before, but yeah this is my first one with people wearing masks. It's kinda fun not knowing who people are. Oh," he paused to giggle at himself. "Speaking of that, you can call me Orange Grin if you like, lady....?"

He was already having a great time and he had just got there. However he fidgeted with his collar a bit as it was a little tighter than he was used to.

Crashed Wave squinted at the guy in a slightly ill-fitting suit vaguely dancing his way towards him. It was kind of weird but he guessed maybe that was just a thing that happened at balls? All the dancing stuff. "Does it look like I go to a lot of things like this?" he snapped, mostly because he was very much out of his element and felt stupid all dressed up. But then he noticed the guy had asked if it was his first masquerade too. At least he wasn't alone in not being used to this. "Sorry. Yeah, i've never been to something like this before."

He wondered who this person was but, as his friend had told him, part of the 'fun' was not knowing who you were meeting at the ball. "Alright New, you can call me Crashed Wave," he said with a fair bit more friendliness than he had started their little exchange with. And he offered a hand to shake.

The party was preceding without too many difficulties, a little accident here and there but nothing major. Scanning over the crowd, she spotted the disappearing glint of a piece of pocketed silverware.

”[Execute primary function: Maintain public order; Possible opportunity for side objectives: Introduction, mend criminal tendencies; Engaging stealth mode;]" Sasha thought, almost instantly turning completely invisible to all but the most supernatural vision.

Making sure to avoid bumping into anyone, the android moved around the edge of the room, coming closer to the offender.

“Sir, please refrain from general misconduct. If you refuse to comply I will be forced to report to law enforcement. Returning stolen goods will suffice, however further wrongdoing will not be looked over.” She said, decloaking and grabbing the individuals arm.

The young man, now firmly nicknamed Kind, was about to get punch for both himself and Heather, but only got one for himself when Heather already got a glass for herself. “I was gonna get the punch for you, but I guess you... beat me to the punch.” He snickered a bit at his own pun.

He sipped some of his own, observing Heather. He couldn’t help but smile a little when she seemed to light up a bit. “Yeah, punch is pretty nice.” He nodded in agreement, drinking some more of his own. “So, Heather. What brings you this fine masquerade?” He leaned a bit more on his right leg, a casual smile on his face.

"Remarkable," he'd look at the ice fingers, he hadn't even noticed they were made of ice, "a wonderful ability." Being connected to an element seemed so amazing, like having a piece of nature you could tap into, "Like having a piece of creation for yourself," he'd say with a chuckle, taking a sip of his own punch.

"I'm still relatively new to magic," he'd say with a smile, "been on the island for a few years, and it all still never fails to surprise me." Meeting new people, seeing new things, Manta Carlos was always filled with the unexpected.

The people around them continued to dance and mingle among themselve, the ballroom quickly filling with people. "Did your home ever have events like this?" he'd ask curiously.

"Remarkable, perhaps, but also quite ironic when the very element I am connected to took my fingers. And a few toes as well, though that I cannot show you."
Huilu smiled a bit, and for a moment she made the tip of her icy index finger into a very detailed ice sculpture of a lily.
"Although I cannot deny these fingers are quite useful."

"I truly wish the island keeps surprising me years from now. I at least am confident I will always keep finding wonders from around me, it's something I cannot help."
Huilu chuckled, she had taken in carefully what Dark had said.
"I must return the question to you. How does it feel, to use whatever abilities you possess? I will not demand to know what they are, and you are free not to answer. My curiosity got the best of me."

Huilu felt like she might need that said break soon, as more and more people flowed into the ballroom. She wouldn't demand Dark to join her, but for now she still remained in the man's rather pleasant company.
"No, not like this. Something similar, but nothing this extravagant, or that had this kind of magic. My home is quite small in comparison to the island."

It took a few seconds for the white girl to understand Kind's pun but when she did she laughed a bit, which then morphed into a small giggle. She understood the pun was a bit weak, but she was in a good mood and since Kind was laughing Heather wanted to laugh with him, and she didn't even need to fake it.

Heather was almost chugging the punch, though she held herself back because even she knew it would've been against good manners. She took some more, and listened to Kind's question while she did.
"I, hmmm, have never been to a masquerade, and wanted to see for myself what it was like. It's not a special reason, I know. What about you?"
Heather looked at Kind curiously, small friendly smile on her face.

"Actually, I'd love to dance," Liliana said truthfully somewhat surprised though at the offer. She had not expected anyone to ask her to dance, at least not so soon. Putting her glass of punch down on the table, Liliana followed the girl out to the dance floor.

"You can call me, Violet," the young woman said with a wide grin, her name fitting in with all the purple she was wearing. It was not her real name obviously, just like Orange Grin was not his real name.

She suspected that everyone in attendance were most likely using pretend names to help conceal their identities. One of the reasons she also had turned her hair back to its original colour. Nobody on the island had actually seen her in anything but her silver grey hair colour.

"Masked balls were very popular in my day, I was excited to hear that this ball was a masked affair," she told Orange Grin. "Would you care to dance?" she asked the young man curiously.

"Violet, that's a good name. Purple suits you I think- at least from what I can tell," he said as he thought about all the wonderful things you could do with the color purple. He had been especially tempted to choose purple for his own clothes for the Ball but he had spotted the orange jacket and it seemed a little more interesting to him after all.

Everyone did seem to have taken to the idea of using fake names and his was no exception, though his was a little goofy. It honestly felt really strange to hide who he was, but that was just part of how this thing was supposed to go.

"In your day, huh? I guess you've had some practice with these things then," he laughed as he avoided mentioning that the way she said that meant she was probably quite a bit older than him. No reason to be rude. "I would be glad to dance with you, if you don't mind dancing with someone still in highschool." And he extended his hand politely to take hers if she still wanted to dance.

He wanted to be upfront in case his costume belied his age. He didn't think it was making him look too much older than he was, but you never know. He wasn't angling for anything romantic with her.
