Shay had been planning Nico's birthday since she'd found out about it. She had subtly dropped hints and paid close attention to other people's plans for him, to ensure nothing messed up. She was all about the details.
For the moment, Shay was busy finishing up the final touches of her outfit and ensuring the presents she planned to give him wrapped to perfection. She'd sent him a quick text the day before, telling him they would be going somewhere nice tomorrow for his birthday, and to dress for the occasion.
Originally, Eroshay had planned on wearing something risqué. It had been inexorable that Vito would find out and view the outfit, but she'd managed to get him to agree begrudgingly to it once she'd asked in Italian. What a great trick! Then, the idea of going to space to eat out motivated her creativity.
She had decided on something more galactically inspired. A dark midnight blue dress covered in a thin veil of glittery design to give the impression of stars. A lighter blue band circled her waist and tied at the front to make the dress slightly more form fitting. If Shay could have, she'd have french braided her hair.
When she pulled up to Nico's home, she was in the backseat of a fancy looking black car with tinted windows. She had stashed the gifts in the trunk. When Shay spotted him, she rolled the window down and shook a bottle of sparkling cider. "Ready to feel like royalty? Hope in, stranger, and I'll give you a ride to a good time." She ended her sentence with a wink.

Nico had got Shay's text the day before which was unexpected. Nico is the type to not have people to waste a lot of money on him as he actually enjoyed the simple things. Today however was different unlike the past birthdays he didn't celebrate much or well did anything he did to classify as celebrating.
Initially he was iffy about it when he first received the text however he changed his mind after giving a bit of thought. So he prepared himself for whatever Shay had planned and began to get ready.
He dressed to impress and more fancy than usual. He did2 known how nice or what Shay had planned for him so he picked the best tuxedo he got. He took the time to comb his hair over and was pretty much was set as he took a shower and other stuff earlier.
He headed out the door and waited for Shay which not much to his surprised had arrived in a fancy black car. Nico smiled nervously as he watched the car window rolled down. "Feel like royalty? You're seriously going all out with this? You even got Sparkling cider too!" he let out a laugh as he moved closer to the car.
Nico wasn't going to wait for someone to open his door for him so he did it himself and climbed into the car. He sat by Shay and just continued smiling at her. "You look beautiful and elegant today."
He eyed the star dress and nodded. "Its nice.....Anyway what are you planning for me...us tonight?" So far he can conclude they are going out on a fancy date and eat somewhere super fancy.

When Nico slid into the car, Shay turned to look at him, leaning against the door and grinning. "We're going to Fusion. The new space restaurant." She leaned closer to him, wiping invisible dust off his shoulders, fixing his tie, subtle excuses to touch, to be close.
"I know it's fancier, but I figured it would be fun. You're welcome to change the plans if you like. I'll be happy with anything, so long as I get to spend time with you."
She uncorked the cider as the car started up and pulled away from the curb, offering him the first sip. "I have everything all set up for us to stay out late. Fusion, if you'd like, then, if you're up to it, we can go somewhere else. Laser tag? The batting cage?" Shay cuddled up to his side, gave his cheek a quick kiss.
To be fair, this was Shay;s official first date, or as she would consider it. It was wild -- a mixture of anxiety and excitement. She kind of liked this whole planning and surprising people business; maybe she was taking after her fathers in that regard.
It wouldn't be long before the car stopped at the teleportation device for the Starlight Observation Station. Shay and Nico's doors were opened for them, and the driver waited patiently (and silently, which was important).
