Appearance Description:

Standing at a towering 6’1”ft and donning that classical mobster look, Vito looks much like a snake in a suit, long-limbed, sharp-featured, and always impeccably dressed. He owes much of his appearance to his snake heritage. His face is long and sharp, his tongue forked, his cheekbones strong and his cheeks gaunt. His hair is perfectly combed and slicked back at all times.

Despite his clean and well-put appearance, he has a rough quality to him. He lost an eye in a scuffle so he covers it up with a black eyepatch. His depth perception is, as you’d expect, absolute shit. Vito is 29 years old, but looks and carries himself like a gentleman in his late 40’s. You look at this guy, and you know he’s shady without even trying. At the very least, he looks like a classy criminal.

And his demonic heritage? It’s not obvious at first, but it’s present in the way his teeth is a little sharper, his eyes are a little scarier, and his overall appearance a lot more sinister than a regular snake’s. There’s no part of him that’s pleasing. At his most neutral, he looks judgmental and confrontational. He’s intimidating. He’s grotesque. He’s not someone you mess with. Vito Rosales is not a nice man.

As far as fashion goes, Vito favors the formal. He’s almost always found in dark suits, pinstripes being a personal favorite, over a black undershirt and a simple tie. In more casual settings, he wears polos and jeans. He loves dark colors, with the only exceptions being white and lighter blues blues, and they’re a rarity. Vito likes his strong masculine perfumes, at times mixed in with the scent of tobacco. During sunny days, he wears a fedora with brand name sunglasses.

He has a deep, husky voice, by far his most appealing outward quality.

Personality Description:

Vito Rosales is the very picture of a traditional man. He’s stoic, well-dressed and well-mannered, intelligent and sharp but with an underlying aggression to it all. He likes debating for sport. When he smiles, it means he’s brimming with joy. He’s very concerned about being a “proper” man, the kind of man his father raised him to be, one that could take care of his own people. Vito is at his best with a purpose with people to take care of and a group to organize. He’s a perfectionist at his core. Self-discipline, honor, and hard work are some of Vito’s most valued virtues. He’s not at all prone to emotional outbursts, and thinks very lowly of wishy-washy and overly dramatic men. A true man works for his keep.

Being the son of Pride, Vito himself has a lot of pride in his work and what he has to offer. He’s a very confident man, but it’s a confidence backed up with action and intelligence. Growing up poor, he has a lot of natural foresight and he would rather not waste resources as much as possible. Vito looks at people, income, and situations with the same thought: How could this be used? He weighs pros and cons just on pure instinct, and that’s why he’s an unmatched advisor.

His focus on efficiency would’ve gotten too ruthless and cruel if it weren’t for his unflappable honor. It might not be obvious at first glance, but Vito is very concerned on how people should be properly treated. He’s refused ideas that were good in theory because he didn’t agree with their ethics. One would hear a lot of complaints about Vito, but they’re never about him treating someone unfairly. It is, after all, a gang’s standards and attention to quality that sets them apart from common thugs.

Family are treated like royalty. People are treated with fairness. Enemies are treated with respect. Traitors are granted no mercy. Sentiment could rarely sway Vito from his internalized moral compass. Vito would sooner spare an honorable cop threatening their entire business than a dangerous, unpredictable ally who takes pleasure in hurting people. As far as Vito is concerned, one should always treat others with respect, and if someone treats his fellow man like a beast, then Vito would treat them like a beast. It’s only fair.

Vito’s affection is earned. Vito can sniff out an ass kisser a mile away and he’s not impressed. Vito values sincerity and dedication. He’s hard to win over, but once you do, he’s there for life unless given a reason to leave. Vito is softer to children in general and treats them with respect. After all, it was his parents’ confidence in his skills that helped him mature early.

Romantically, Vito loves pretty faces, and he’s especially weak for people that don classical 50’s-60’s looks, but now that he’s older, he likes substance to go with beauty.

Don’t get the wrong idea about him. Honor and values aside, Vito is still a stone cold motherfucker. Nobody would last this long in his job if he didn’t enjoy it. Vito loves a challenge, and what bigger challenge was there than opposing authority? Vito loves crime, violence, and living a certain luxurious lifestyle. Helping the love of his life run a gang is the dream.

As self-assured as he is, Vito has his own fair share of insecurities. His looks are a sore spot. He always feels like he’s not giving enough. It’s difficult for Vito to put value in the time and effort he spends taking care of his loved ones even when it’s above and beyond the required amount. Vito is dedicated to people to a fault, and that’s why betrayals hurt so much.

Vito likes Frank Sinatra, good suits, Cuban cigars, imported wine, juicy steaks and quality paintings. He has a secret love of cute pin ups, complicated jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku, the morning crossword, novelty items, and assembling ships in a bottle.

Powers:

Overpower

Demonic powers and overwhelming confidence mix together in a deadly, will-shattering combination. By combining his will and voice with his aura, Vito can get anyone to alter their behavior to suit his needs. He’s at his most powerful when he’s confident and self-assured, and weakest when he’s emotionally vulnerable. Luckily, Vito has confidence in spades.

Branches of the Overpower ability are as follows:

Attention Grab

Vito can use his voice to command the attention of his chosen audience. When making a speech to a crowd, he can spread this power out to make all inhabitants of a room to instinctively turn to his direction. Moderate to strong wills can choose to ignore him after the initial wave. The biggest area he can use this on is around the size of a soccer field. It gets weaker the farther you are. The transmission could be interrupted by walls. Vito can use this up to two times a day.

Compulsion / Crushing Will

A variant of the attention grabbing subpower. When concentrated to a single person, he has their undivided attention, and he can influence how they could feel and think, get rid of a desire to pursue a course of action, and hypnotize them to do his bidding. This requires a great deal of energy from Vito, with bigger emotions and more out of character actions requiring more stamina. The longer time needed to execute his order, the easier it would be for them to snap out of it. He can't make anyone go against their moral code. The more Vito uses this power on a person, the longer the amount of time and the more stamina is required to do it again. People with prolonged exposure to Vito could build a resistance to this altogether.

As much as possible, he avoids this power. He would rather influence people with his own words. He’s of the mind that people are rational at their core. People with high mental resistance or incredibly strong will can resist this power.

Influence

A good king has the loyalty of his followers. It may seem like prolonged exposure to Vito would help them resist his powers, but the truth is that it envelopes them at a larger scale. Vito can influence their personality traits little by little. If he isn’t actively trying to alter someone, then they would find it easier to trust him, believe what he says and find more logic in his principles. It's the little things.

This requires explicit player permission.

Species Abilities:

Vito has no ounce of human in him. He is half snake, half demon. That lends for an… interesting body.

Snake Physiology

Vito’s body operates much like a snake would. His body is soft and scaly. First off, his hearing and eyesight are poorer than a normal human’s, but he can detect chemicals, heat and vibration with his tongue and the end of his nose.

Vito is cold-blooded, which means his body can’t regulate heat. During winter, he prefers to stay indoors with heating or wear coats with heavy charms. He’s a bit different from other snakes in the sense that passion, whether in anger or sex, can heat up his own body.

Vito is venomous like his mamba brothers. Vito can paralyze an adult in an hour, killing them in three hours in one bite, and he produces enough venom that he can kill four all at once. Symptoms include dizziness, cough, difficulty breathing, and an erratic heartbeat. He prefers draining the poison every morning and taking pills to lessen the generation, which he can stop at any time to produce more venom. He’s a carnivore. His stomach can only digest vegetables and such in small amounts. He can poison and swallow live prey. He just doesn’t want to.

Demon Physiology

Partly being a demon allows Vito certain advantages he doesn’t have as a snake. Much like the other hellions, Vito is humanoid. He looks and acts like a real person, sans the obvious snake qualities. He has access to the full range of emotions humans have. Being a demon, malice and negativity comes a lot easier for him, and seeing that he’s a child of Pride, he is naturally prideful.

Vito isn’t immortal, but after hitting twenty, he is aging very, very slowly. He can die, but he’s a lot more durable than your average person. He has the typical demonic weaknesses like holy grounds and symbols. Holy water and blessed crosses can burn his skin.

Biography:

Vito Russo was born out of an unholy union between an eastern green mamba and the demon lord Lucifer. As soon as the egg was laid, Lucifer left the mamba, and the mother died giving birth to the unusually large egg. The egg hatched after ten weeks, but he had the unfortunate form of a humanoid baby and thus weren’t able to fend for himself.

The baby Vito would’ve died if a nearby farmer hadn’t heard his cries. The farmer dug Vito out of the tree as soon as he heard him, and when he held the baby in his arms, he thought it was a blessing. The farmer was sterile and he couldn’t impregnate his wife, and just when they both gave up on having children, this baby came. They couldn’t deny the signs. Salvatore Russo adopted the child and named him Vito.

They weren’t the richest family around. Salvatore and Bianca Russo had a small Italian restaurant in downtown Manta Carlos and a garden in their backyard where they grew fresh ingredients. As soon as Vito hit five, he helped out around the house. First in little ways, such as helping his mother water and harvest the plants, then with more complicated tasks as he grew older. He cleaned plates, waited on tables, and help cooked. Some might find this childhood difficult, but it was where Vito Russo learned the value of efficiency, hard work and dedication.

His parents never kept his adopted status as a secret from him. They feared that one day Vito might run off to look for his birth parents, but he never did. It was a silly notion to consider. As far as Vito was concerned, relationships are earned. His adoptive parents earned his love and dedication. He learned many skills from his mother and many lessons from his father. His father was the one that inspired the manly pride he has even to this day. Through some miracle, Salvatore and Bianca were able to conceive his younger sister, Francesca, when Vito was nine. Vito happily accepted her into the family and promised to protect her.

His father bequeathed Vito the restaurant as soon as he turned eighteen, as well as the position of the man of the household. Even still, Vito decided to go to College and pursue an Economics degree with a minor in Politics. He made the decision of sharing the rights of the restaurant with a local entrepreneur. While the decision initially exasperated his parents, the assistance of cheaper, more accessible ingredients and more funds helped the restaurant expand and open to three different areas of Manta Carlos. Vito had no interest in giving the restaurant over to his shareholder. In a bold move, he leeched off all he could, and when the time was right, he bought the shareholder out, assumed full ownership, and had the rest of the Russos manage the branches. The money made life easier for his immediate and extended family.

Running alongside those events, Vito formed a very tight friend group at school, and when he got closer, he found out they were all part of a school fraternity. Vito appreciated the fraternity’s spirit of camaraderie so he joined them in their numbers. At the beginning of his second year, he found out they all joined Klaus Rosales’ gang.

It was an idiot move. Vito screamed and lectured at his brothers for hours, but they didn’t budge. Vito, harboring a crush on one of his fellow members at the time, joins the Rosales gang with them to keep them out of trouble.

It, uh, didn’t go as expected. Vito got too into the life of crime. He kept his distance from the higher powers, but it was inevitable that his talent and enjoyment of violence and crime escape Klaus’ notice. Vito got promoted a few ranks higher than his brothers. He got to enjoy a certain luxurious lifestyle that involved a lot of sex, drugs and alcohol. His promotion distanced himself from his old friends, but as far as he was concerned, it didn’t matter. He was too invested in the gang at this point.

It seemed inevitable that Vito would fall in love with Klaus at some point. Being able to sit near the man in meetings tickled the sensors in his body. Klaus was very beautiful. More than that, he was intelligent, charismatic, and possessed a strong character. Klaus, flirtatious and polyamorous as he was, was still out of his league, so Vito displayed his affections by being a good, hardworking member.

Vito graduated with his degree at twenty-one. He was beginning to wonder where he was going after, what he was planning on dedicating himself to. Around the same time, rumors of rebellion started fluttering around the base. His former crush and presently Klaus’ lover was planning on offing Klaus to take over. He’d been gathering support. When he thought their position as new leader was secure, he attempted to assassinate Klaus. Vito, aided by foresight and motivated by nothing but his desire to protect, sprang to his feet and took the man down. He lost an eye in the scuffle, but in the end, Vito managed to kill him.

He saved Klaus. That was all he wanted, all that mattered really. He didn’t expect any accolades aside from a possible raise that month. But Klaus reacted… oddly to being saved. He, ah, never anticipated he’d reciprocate any of his romantic feelings. It took a while for Vito to process this but when he did accept their new status as lovers, he was ecstatic, and he decided that this was what he wanted to pursue in life.

He changed his last name from Russo to Rosales. Russo was his name as a child. Rosales was what he became as a man. He directed his entire life into supporting Klaus and helping his gang flourish that he settled into the position of second-in-command pretty easily. Klaus’ children became his children, and he loved them as much as any good father would. The gang became his family. Vito would spend countless hours personally customizing people’s payments and benefits to what they needed.

He also realized he didn’t take too well to traitors and disgraces. Along with his benevolence, his ruthlessness grew, and he wasn’t afraid to hurt, kill or make an example of people when they cross a line. Vito would sooner save an honorable enemy than a disgrace of a member. He’s feared, even hated, but if it means he’s getting all the heat instead of Klaus then this suits him just fine.

On his 25th birthday, Vito got a letter from his biological father, Lucifer. Lucifer expressed his regret that he abandoned him and wished to take him in as his rightful son. Vito accepted his invitation, but only to personally tell Lucifer that he wasn’t interested in being a prince. The power of promise wasn’t appealing, especially when Vito knew that he could pursue power on his own. His first priority was his adopted and mob family. Family was found. Love and respect were earned. Blood be damned.

To this day, Vito remains as Klaus Rosales’ most trusted right hand.
