And it took some convincing."

"But once she got to Manta Carlos though, she had the opportunity to learn the things that humans had hidden from them. She learned who her biological father was. She learned about the hell he came from, and how that place works. She also learned about dark magic."

"Right, so. She started learning dark magic. Her human family got killed by other humans, while she's on Manta Carlos and unable to contact them. When she started her own family on the island, that one met with a few tragedies of its own. At one point she narrowly avoided being enslaved by a demon lord, whose help she enlisted in saving someone she loved. And all of that together sort of broke something in her, a little bit. She got... really fed up with feeling powerless."

After a while, I figured out a way for us to talk it out without either of us feeling like we were in mortal danger from the other. We took turns accusing each other of wanting to kill each other for a little bit, then came to the agreement that, no, we don't really want to be enemies. We've got enough crap to deal with. Plus I would win if she tried anything, so there's that."
