VASILISA FROST
Arctic Siren
Female. 315 years old (physically 21). December 21.
4th Year College Student. Major in Magical Studies.
- - - APPEARANCE - - -
In mortal form, she stands at 5’6”, with fair skin, layered icy blue hair falling down her back, and piercing gray eyes. She wears no make up almost all the time (not that she needed any thanks to her genes), and prefers comfort to style.
In Siren form, Vasilisa looks almost the same as her mortal self, except her skin takes a pearly sheen and large, majestic wings expands from her back. Her eyes also stay the same color but give an eerie glow in the dark and underwater. Vasilisa also has one birthmark that glows faintly at the back of her left upper shoulder, which is the symbol of her family line. When underwater, Vasilisa’s entire body turn translucent and her wings allow her to propel.

- - - PERSONALITY - - -
- People who aren’t aware of her species may describe her as quiet and shy-looking but extremely charming and captivating.
- She has a tendency to be arrogant and prideful, but also has a playful nature esp. towards the male species.
- She doesn’t easily trust people around her and prefers to subject them to one of her entrancing songs to unearth their true intentions.
- Vasilisa is an unpredictable girl and is not as she initially appears, especially when it comes to voicing out her true feelings because the Siren in her prevents other people from learning whether she’s influencing or not.
- Her temper is slightly shorter than normal, most of the time when she doesn’t get what she wants.
- She has an unforgiving nature, as like the rest of her family, and often sings a Death Song to those who cross her terribly.
- - - SPECIAL ABILITIES - - -
- Siren Song – Like the entirety of her species, Vasilisa can sing melodies to lure in creatures towards them and have them fall under a trance and hallucinate what they most desire. Mostly dark in nature.
1. Hypnotism – Sirens, being true to their nature, have the unwavering tendency to at least hum when in someone else’s presence. This causes unawareness of the surrounding, confusion, and hypnotism if subjected for longer periods of time. The humming often renders its victims distracted and willing to do whatever the Siren suggests; which in the old times would be to jump into the water and drown. At the modern world, Vasilisa only hums long enough to be mischievous and cause confusion and disorientation to people but rarely causes hypnotism unless needed (i.e. avoid exposure to mortals).
2. Tranquility and Healing – Like her ability to hypnotize a person, Vasilisa uses her Song to also cause tranquility by subjecting its victim in a trance with a simple melody. When in the trance, the victim often hallucinates about things that they desire the most and leaves them looking calm and serene but trapped in their own mind. Her healing abilities, however, require lyrical spells instead of hums. The spells are very old and very few that when sung to a wounded person it could aid in quick healing of simple cuts, abrasions, and lacerations, but does very little to none on life-threatening situations.
3. Death Song – Melancholic and despairing, this Song acts as an omen of tragic and/or unpleasant death for the person who is unfortunate enough to hear it, where it be by drowning, falling off a cliff, or torture. The Song is mainly for those who crossed and angered a Siren, and it works in a way where the Siren descriptively sings the death of the individual and given the hypnotic tendency of the Song, that individual would unknowingly carry out his own demise in time. It is unlikely for people who are given this Song to survive their Fate but in the very rare case that they have enough will and a strong mind to avoid this, the curse backfires on the Siren and enough escapes may cause her death.
Weaknesses: It affects only those who can hear and only as long as they can hear the Song. Those who hold true love in their hearts may have a slight immunity as opposed to others. Does not affect other Sirens or creatures with similar power (i.e. mind control/telepathy). Holds absolutely no alluring effect on the Siren’s true mate. Healing is limited to minor wounds such as abrasions, cuts and small lacerations. The Siren's Song, in general, has very little to no effect on those with a very strong will and mind (i.e. those who have the power to control people's minds or provide a mental shield) or to those who are higher and more ancient beings than the Sirens (i.e. gods, angels, demons). The Death Song, when it’s foretold words were miraculously evaded by the listener, backfires on the Siren and enough escapes may cause her death.
- Enhanced Beauty - Defined in both forms but more noticeable when human because the Song proves a more powerful cause of trance.
- Aquatic in Origin - Due to the nature of her species’ home, Vasilisa is able to swim and breathe underwater.
- Translucency – Vasilisa is able to become translucent underwater, allowing her to camouflage under the waves.
- Avian in Origin - Flight, enhanced reflexes, vision, and hearing, and better balance.
- - - POWERS - - -
Hydrokinesis
Sub-abilities: moisture/vapor and cryokinesis (able to do these because she lived in icy waters, the Arctic)
Strengths: She has the ability to control water in all it’s state. She is able to influence an individual’s ability to drown.
Weaknesses: Vasilisa can not create water, she needs a source to be able to manipulate it. Limited use and less powerful when she’s in a hot environment or weather. Those who are also able to control water and/or ice can oppose this power. She is only able to control larger amounts and for longer periods of time if she’s in her Siren form and at sea, otherwise controlling it for an extended period of time esp. when she’s in her human form exhausts her and may lead to unconsciousness. Given that the Island is in the Pacific, Vasilisa’s ice powers aren’t at it’s best.

- - - BIOGRAPHY - - -
Early Years:
- Vasilisa resides in a remote and very distant island somewhere between Northern Europe and the Arctic with five other Sirens of her type who are also Arctic in nature. Her mother is one of the oldest in their flock and is over a thousand years of age.
- Her exact year of birth was unknown due to the lack of concept of time in her home, but estimated to be around early 1700.
- Her birth name is plain ‘Vasilisa’, but the surname ‘Frost’ is added to identify the family she came from later when she came into the civilized world.
- She spent almost her entire life in her Siren form and luring sailors (mainly explorers of the old who seek new lands at sea), sinking their ships, and drowning the crew aboard. Vasilisa continued with this ‘tradition’ of their species until late 1800s when voyagers scouted the sea for scientific purposes.
- When the sonar technology started to bloom in the past century, the nest she belong in was disturbed and they followed the noise to a nearby submarine who found it’s way deep into their part of the sea. It had been the first time they saw one and the entire flock was angered how they couldn’t get into the men inside the vessel. Two of the flock, including Vasilisa, followed the submarine back towards civilization after months of traveling under the waves. It had been Vasilisa’s first close-up view of land that isn’t an island at sea.
- Convincing her companion that she wanted to see land more, they parted ways and Vasilisa rose from the ocean and shifted into her mortal form for the first time. She started visiting the small villages by the sea and was received hesitantly due to her strange appearance, with some residents calling her a mermaid from the oceans, much to Vasilisa’s annoyance. An old couple that did not share the other members’ opinions and prejudice took her in and allowed her to live with them. This happened in 1937.
- Vas remained at the seaside for three years until the Second World War started. By then, the German forces of the war had attacked most of the country and held it under its power. Their village was invaded and the people immediately surrendered due to the lack of resistance to the armed forces. Vasilisa first attempted to use her powers towards the military men, trying to drown them and singing a Song but their increasing number proved to be problematic. She soon found herself escaping the chaos and her existence was left unknown except for one trooper who had documented to catching a ‘glimpse of a giant bird flying away from the thundering sounds of war.’
Before SA:
- Returning back to her nest in the Arctic seas, Vasilisa spent the remaining years with her flock away from the war. She only returned to land in 2016 and traveled places when curiosity about the new civilized world got the better of her. Vas got by day by day with the use of her abilities and had caused some playful mischief on men and singing Songs. She had been in England when she met someone from Starlight Academy and realizing the supernatural being in her told her all about the school, it’s purpose and locations, and gave her a letter. At first, Vas had been hesitant mainly due to the location’s weather, but agreed to take a look and visit the place juts because it’s an island and she can be herself.
Additional Information: None at the moment.
