Aedan held the device over the amulet, the screen showing glowing red, "fascinating," he said. The device looked a bit like a tablet, with one side with the camera like scanner and the other with a screen. He hadn't thought about it right away, but it did eventually hit him, and when it did it was like a brick.
Magic was ultimately a type of energy manipulation, so perhaps you could detect that energy. He looked to the man holding the amulet, "could you deminstrate the amulet's ability?" The man rolled his eyes but used the amulet to shoot the brick wall with a blast of fire. Aedan placed the scanner of the amulet, the screen showing the amulet glowing red with energy. "Truly fascinating," he nodded to the man, and gave him the promised twenty dollars, "thank you sir." The man nodded and walked off.
He looked at the device, going through the readings from the device, the amulet wasn't hot to touch after use but it definitely gave off an energy unique to fire magic.
