Amara could feel her breathing getting heavier and heavier as she jogged through the park. How stupid could I be was the only thought going through her head as she tried to separate the many scents of flowers and people that had littered the park as they passed through? Kids were playing frisbee and football. While adults took loving strolls together as couples or simply passed the time with nice scenery. Regardless they only made her task more o a challenge.
Lichy was a good pet....as far as her jaded eyes would let her believe. He had a streak of misbehavior and running away when he got the chance was one of his top offenses. Why he ran away was always a mystery to her and whenever she tried to ask he would just ignore her and go back to rummaging through her stuff, or sleeping..always sleeping. The large Direwolf would normally be easy to find on campus because of his record, but today was park day and she had no dorm support to draw upon.
Swear fell from her forehead as she called out for the wolf several times as loud as she could without feeling embarrassed in public. Her worry wasn't that he wouldn't come home but that someone would trap him or steal him away. She had heard enough stories about what happens to "exotic" animals in the underground and she didn't want to be another one. Crying out once more she felt her nose flare up and ears perk as his scent brushed past her for a slight second. Charging in the direction she used her full conviction to catch up with him.
In actuality, Lichy wasn't being stalked but was stalking her. The wolf was intangible to the naked eye and had gone through the extra effort to roll around in a mud pile to mask his scent. Why was he doing it? Becuase this was always funny watching her worry over him. Watching her runoff from under a tree he resumed his stroll around the park hoping whatever traces of his smell she caught would keep leading her around in circles.
