This place isn’t as big of a shit hole as I thought it’d be.
She had finally gotten out of her day classes. The rest of the afternoon was her and D’s alone and she was more than a little excited. They had both spent a good amount of time getting as ahead as they could on their online classes so they could finally get out and feel out the crowd around here. They had agreed earlier that today they’d be testing out the school. She needed to get to the courtyard as quick as she could so she had just brought her change of clothes with her to class in her bag.
She changed out of her long sweater and knee socks and into sweatpants, a fishnet shirt and a tube top, kicking on her dancing shoes before running out of the building. Good, there were still tons of students milling about the court yard. With a wicked grin she spotted her dread-locked friend strumming his brand new acoustic guitar, entirely out of sight of everyone around him. As always he was just part of the scenery in everyone’s, but her own, eyes.
They didn’t really need to speak to each other before they began. They used to do this every single day all day. It was how they ate. It was how they bought clothes. Her trademark fedora landed top-down on the half-frozen ground and she grabbed her hip black and silver hip scarf out of her bag tying it firmly around her. Without a moment’s hesitation the boy she stood in front of made himself known to the world around him, playing loudly on his guitar strings and using the rest of the instrument as well as a few rings on his hands as his own personal drum set.
The young man played with his head down, apparently not interested or perhaps even unaware of the enthusiastic girl dancing his heavily stylized belly dance in front of him. To a trained eye or ear their relationship was apparent for only two people so close could move so flawlessly in time with another. Her hips swayed and the coins jingled so perfectly, it seemed almost like it was intended to be part of the song all along. It was very cold, but it didn’t seem to bother either of them, in fact the fridgid wind whipped the young lady’s hair around so wickedly it almost seemed to be part of her dance.
