It was late in the day, the sun was leaving an orange glow, over the city, with parts of it covered in the shadows of the skyscrapers. The streets were quieting down a little, as the people at work already headed home and those working late were still getting in their cars. Only those without much to do still walked the streets, and those with less savory business shuffled into the alley's. This time of day wasn't the best time to be out, for those who didn't know where to steer clear. The thugs usually kept an eye out for newbies unaware of the danger.

Heck walked through the streets unafraid, he already had time to learn of the trouble spots, and really, not many would pick a fight with a large burly figure with a gun for a head and ammo belts in place of a shirt.

It had been almost two years since Nazir had had any experience with more than a handful of outcasts, and even before that the coatl's home settlement had been nothing like this city. They hadn't had such large buildings for one thing. Mostly they'd had tents and buildings of clay, they weren't nomads but supplies were scarce in the desert.

The coatl was wary walking these streets, but no more than usual. People here didn't seem to attack outcasts on sight, unlike his homeworld, and he didn't consider himself as having anything worth stealing. He didn't understand anything. Having come to this world with just the clothes on his back, the school had given him some money and told him to buy some for himself. They'd given him some things as well, but everything was so unfamiliar.

So he'd headed downtown with nothing more than simple clothes, the money they'd given him tucked into a pocket of his hoody. And he hadn't been ashamed to ask how to use it either. Trusting that shopkeepers would have no reason to turn to banditry.

He noticed some people watching him as he walked by, but he didn't recognize the guns they were holding as weapons.

As Nazir walked by the group of street thugs, all three of them shifted out of the alleyway, following just a ways behind him. As they neared a second alley their pace quickened and they started gaining on Nazir. One of them, the slightly burlier one of the group reached ahead and grabbed Nazir by the arm before shoving him into the second alley, as the other two followed them in. One of them flicked out a knife, while the other pointed his gun at Nazir.

"I can always tell the new ones when I see'em, got that unsure look in their eyes, darting all around. Listen up boyo, whatcha got on ye? Cuz if you got money on you, that'd be what we're after! So just hand it over, and there won't be no more trouble, or else!" the man with the gun said as he cocked back the hammer.

Heck, on the street on the opposite side of the alleyway, heard some commotion and peeked into the alleyway. Not wanting to risk spoiling any action, he decided to keep out of sight for now, though he brought out his spell book just in case. He unmatched the bullet brass lock and flipped through the ragged pages looking for a good spell to use while keeping an eye on the scene.
