The People You Meet on the Roof

Silence was a thing that many people didn't seem the favor. Complete and utter silence was said to be able to drive anyone insane if they encountered it too long. Skylar however wasn't one of those people. Most of the time he preferred to be alone, mostly because he was shy and pretty reserved. However at the same time he slowly became to understand that he was never truly alone. There was another side to him, another life that he was leading and to be honest he thought many times that perhaps this side was all the things that he wasn't.

His black outs seemed more frequent when he came to college, and it wasn't because of the alcohol. His days are far as his memory served him, considered of class, studying and doing activities by himself like playing solitaire or some type of instrument. However there were occasions where he would wake up in places he didn't recognize, with people he didn't know and was being told he did things that he could never imagine.

However at this current time he seemed to have control over himself and he decided to spend some alone time on the roof to read a new book. The title was, "The Five People You Meet in Heaven", and thinking about heaven drew him outside. Looking at the clouds he thought of what heaven would be like, what death would be like. He wasn't afraid of the idea, yet in his mind it wasn't the most promising.

He laid down on his back looking at the sky occasionally while reading. The moment seemed ideal and he thought no one would bother coming up there to disturb him.

Starlight Academy was not fun.

Someone would say it was fun sometimes, but for the most part, it was not. The island's population numbered only five digits, and although people got the best of what society had to offer at this point, the variety wasn't exactly that great. TV was often a conglomeration of a few channels of a ton of languages. Good programming, but sometimes you simply couldn't understand it simply for being in a different dialect.

Exercise was overrated, and not usually fun. Not to mention she got enough of it.

Video games could be amusing sometimes, but it was just a temporary thing. And lag time off the island was usually poor.

In order to deal with the boredom issue, Lumine had a golf driver and a bucket of balls that she occasionally hit, trying to increase her distance ever farther. To do this, she had brought both implement and ammunition to the roof, looking to launch projectiles as far as possible.

The problem was, there were other people up here.

There were always other people. But of course, that had never stopped her. Most people that were simply talking had no problem with others. Others still that were there for more peaceful reasons tended to leave when things got a bit louder.

Lumine set down the plastic tee and bucket next to her, and got a few warmup swings before setting down her first ball and launching it well over 270 yards down range. Not a bad start...until she nearly hit someone walking the lake.

"Fore!"

Lumi laughed and shook her head, teeing up once more.
