"Huh..."

Unable to hide her curiosity by now, Amia stared intently at James' hand as he showed her a small demonstration of his ability. If there was anything she loved, it was learning about what other people could do. Manipulate darkness? That was one she hadn't heard before, and such a concept fascinated her. However, she was still restraining herself and merely remained silent for a moment, taking am absentminded sip of her water.

"I like that."

It was the best she could muster, even though it didn't convey even a tiny amount of the thoughts running through her head. Still, she hoped it wouldn't come off as too awkward. After a while of fidgeting with her water bottle and twitching her feet, she began the desperate opening and closing of her mouth once more, before finally choking out another sentence.

"Never heard of something like that. It's interesting. Where does it come from?"

"Well, shadow magic, like all magic, can come from a different location depending on the user," he'd take a sip of his water, "I sorta got fused with a large piece of living shadow magic a few years back, and well I've had access to its magic ever since." The Shadow was chattering in the back of his mind, reminding James of who be has thank for the magic.

"What about you Amia?" he'd ask curiously, "what kind of abilities do you have?" He was always curious about the different magics on the island, researching stuff had become something he greatly enjoyed.

Finishing his water, he'd toss it into a trashcan, he was happy things were easing down, that she wasn't hurt, though she still seemed a bit nervous.

Amia slowlly nodded as she listened to what James had to say about his ability. Even though she was still thoroughly uncomfortable and terrified she was quite curious about him and what he could do, so this was quite welcome information. A piece of living shadow magic? She'd have to research things similar; she'd never heard of something like that before. However, his next question caused her to freeze up a bit.

"Oh - ah - me?"

The idea of sharing about herself in the presence of a total stranger was nerve wracking to her. Stimming with anxiety, she began to rock from side to side, foot to foot, shaking each foot as she came off it. Was he trying to hurt her? Scout out more about her? Voices of warning were starting to fill the air around her, and it was only contributing to her paranoid emotions.

Finally, though, she took a deep breath and tried to reason with herself. He was only being curious, right? Couldn't she just give a brief summary? As such, she hesitated before gesturing at her head.

"I... my ears. My ears, tail and features. I can change them to whatever animak I want. My favorites are cats, but I kinda have trouble controlling it."
