Unfortunately for a certain neko boy, his move to Manta Carlos was sudden and not something he had a say in so he knew next to nothing about the place, save for the fact that it was crawling with creatures he’d never even heard of as well as super powers he thought only existed in movies and comic books. Oh yeah, and the fact that he was being made to go to a school here… where the aforementioned creatures and people would be attending as well. Being a neko himself, he has always been aware of the fact that there is much more out there in this world and he is included in that statement but it had never occurred to him that there was an entire world beyond the mundane world of humans (he grew up around humans after all). It was both incredible and quite unsettling as well as he himself wasn’t much of a fighter nor did he even know how to fight and many of these people or creatures on this island could easily trump what abilities he did have. It made him wonder though, of all places why was he sent here? Why would his parents go out of their way to send him to an island for creatures and humans that just didn’t fit into humanity when they themselves, as nekos, were adamant about living among humans and as a normal human family? His shoulders slumped with that thought as it seemed to occur to him and he gave a light humorless laugh in spite of it. Because I’m gay and that makes me a misfit worthy of being disowned and sent to an island to live among others who hiding away from humanity and its judgmental oppression on this island.

Fortunately for the neko however, not all was bad as he had arrived here during a weekend and did have a bit of time to at least get settled into his dorm and take a tour of the place. That was exactly what he was doing as he strolled down the sidewalk with his hands shoved into his pockets, hazel-green eyes roaming around his surrounding and mind putting together a mental map of the place he would hopefully remember at a later date. Already having walked about the school some, getting settled into his dorm and meeting his dorm mate the day before, he decided today he would take a look around downtown to at least become a little familiar with it as well as to give himself a reason to stay out of his dorm incase his dorm mate would be hanging around. Not that he didn’t like the guy, he hardly knew him after all, but the neko was planning on keeping both his speech impediment and sexuality a secret for as long as he could help it and being shut up in a room with a cute guy and having to communicate with him wouldn’t do that plan any good. So, he would just have to stick to his own company for now and lay low so to speak, concentrate on his studies and he could completely avoid a similar disaster to what happened at home, right?

He brushed a bit of his bangs out of his face when they fell into his eyes, his ears twitching attentively at the sound of a door closing in the near distance as he continued on his way. With no specific destination in mind, he was simply wandering about and the longer he did, the more he thought and the more he thought, the more questionable he became about the idea of coming down town in the first place. What if he ran into a werewolf or some other creature that would love to have him as a snack? What if he got lost and couldn’t find his way back to the school? Come to think of it, which way had he turned to come down this street again? He momentarily panicked and stole a glance behind him only to give something of a relieved sigh as he assured himself he had turned right and remembered the little bakery shop he had passed on the corner. That had him quickly shaking away his insecurities and putting his mind from any negative thoughts he had earlier to instead enjoy what this part of the island had to offer and for once, not worry if he was going to get caught since he wasn’t sneaking out or about being yelled at when got home since he longer had parents to yell at him or being reprimanded for either his speech impediment of is sexuality since no one here knew him. Though as upsetting as it was for everything to go downhill like that, this really is his chance; a golden opportunity to start over. A faint smile graced his lips at that thought and is stride gained a bit of confidence as he turned the next corner.

Walking through downtown was one of Liney's favorite thing to do in Manta Carlos. Which can be considered weird in itself as it was completely out of Liney's control what with all the man made structures and the desecration of the land. But truth be told, none of those things really mattered. She still felt the earth underneath her feet and could feel it strongly humming in the air around her. The connection isn't as strong as it should be, but it was there. Besides, nature wasn't what she liked whenever she went downtown.

The island in itself was interesting and is definitely a sight to behold, but Liney's basically traveled the whole expanse of it more times than she can count and truth be told, she was getting a bit bored with it. There are just so much you can see of something before it begins to grow old on you. And for Liney's adventurous spirit, the same scenic spots over and over again were just getting too much. The city was a different thing entirely. Every street was bustling with activity and there were always new things to behold every day. Liney makes it her mission to always keep an eye out for anything different and out of all the places there, the downtown district was the busiest one every day. Strangely enough, it was pretty quiet today. Liney wondered if there was an event of sorts and that was why everyone decided that today was the best time to go on a rest day. She didn't hate it though. She only found it a little bit strange, but it is definitely far from being unpleasant. Without the hustle and bustle of people around, her senses could breathe easier than it usually does whenever she goes to the city. The feeling of a clear space around her put her at ease.

Passing by one of the shop windows and catching a glimpse of the new trend displayed, a sour expression permeated her face as she turned away to mentally gag at the amount of lace and frills that those poor mannequins were subjected to. It was almost a year ago when she still wore things like that. It was completely against her will but she had to do so for her parents. She knew that they would never really force her to wear things she felt uncomfortable with, but she knew it would reflect badly on them if their only daughter showed up wearing what was less than acceptable. She missed them terribly these days, but she thanked the heavens that at least now she could do what she wanted without any consequence to anyone other than herself.

Continuing on her way, she paused mid-step when a loud grumbling emerged from her stomach. A sheepish grin made its way to her face when she realized she had forgotten to eat breakfast again and her body was now protesting at the her maltreatment of it. Remembering a little bakery a few blocks from where she was, she quickly changed route and hurried along. The thought of delicious, warm, and wonderfully smelling cinnamon buns had her mind preoccupied that she almost didn't notice the person who was turning the opposite corner.

Eyes growing wide, she side-stepped in just the nick of time and managed to gracefully regain her footing. She turned to apologize to the other person but was left with her mouth hanging open at the sight of a boy a few years older than herself with a cute pair of cat ears atop his head and a tail. Cute, the thought came unbidden in her mind as she continued to stare. The next thought was, Why do I always seem to bump into cat people?
