Sprinkles' was a very nervous person, but thankfully Helena had a lot of patience. And she understood the fear that you would look silly in something. She hadn't always had the confidence in her looks she had now, many went through that same insecurity.
"Don't worry, makeup is handy in the way that you can always wipe it off. And there is no judgment here, we can try many kinds of things, and have fun while doing it. Think of it as experimenting, you are allowed to make mistakes and learn from them."
Helena smiled encouragingly and took out a makeup brush for eye shadow. She turned her body a bit and positioned herself, so she was facing Sprinkles properly.

"Okay, close your eyes and keep them like this."
Helena showed with her own face, lifting her brow and stretching her face muscles so her eyelids were without any wrinkles. She did a kind of a funny face while doing it. And as soon as Sprinkles was ready and doing the same thing Helena would take just a small amount of purple eye shadow on her brush and lightly start applying it, her mouth slightly open in concentration.
"Do you know the routine before and after applying makeup?"
Helena asked casually while at it, kinda testing Sprinkles' knowledge.

Sprinkles managed to loosen up from Helena's supportive words. It was like meeting an online makeup artist in real life. She was so optimistic and sweet. A part of Sprinkles was suspicious, wondering if he was being tricked and this was the start of some life as a bullied kid in a high school drama. The better part of Sprinkles kept to being optimistic. Helena was a sweet person in a nightmare world, so he allowed himself to relax while following her orders.

"Usually I put on lotion, then primer, foundation, concealer... Oh man, there's a lot. After, sometimes I use a finishing powder... This is why I tend to avoid makeup. There's a lot to it. Too complicated. I can't even scratch my face because I'll get worried it'll mess up all my hard work."

Helena let out accepting noises and nodded to herself as Sprinkles told her just about what she wanted to hear. Though there were some parts that Helena could correct.
"Often you don't have to go that far, actually, if you just want to put on quick and simple day makeup. As long as you use exfoliating face masks as least every third day and wash your face with face toner every night and morning you don't have to use lotion. And using too many products on your face sometimes has the opposite effect, it dries out your skin even more. And foundation and concealer aren't always necessary either, especially if a person has a good skin like you."
Helena blew gently on Sprinkles' face as some eyeshadow fell on his cheeks.
"And one small tip I have is, that when you dry your face with a towel don't rub it against your skin, but dap and pat instead. It doesn't irritate the skin and leaves it softer and healthier"
Helena liked sharing the knowledge she had spent almost her entire life collecting here and there, through trial and error sometimes.

Helena finished the makeup after a while, and smiled a bit at the result. Not bad. She picked up a mirror and pointed it at Sprinkles, as he opened his eyes. Helena had made the colour a bit darker towards the corner of the eye by adding in just a small amount of black, and blended the edges with orange and brown so it faded against Sprinkles' skin. And there was a light touch of glitter as well. Helena peeked at Sprinkles, she thought the result looked great.
"So, what do you think? Too bold for your taste?"

Shoot, did I go too far? Sprinkles' cheeks turned a bit red. He had a bad habit of responding to questions with a complicated answer. He hoped that by layering enough 'right' answers on top of each other, getting some parts wrong it wouldn't be a big deal. It worked most of the time. Other times people saw right through that and called him out.

He listened to Helena's advice, nodding a bit once in a while. Some of this stuff he knew already, some he hadn't considered before. Then, it was time to see the finishing result. He took Helena's mirror and looked at himself from different perspectives.

"Actually, it's not as bold as I expected. I feel like it fits me just right." Sprinkles giggled a few times, not bothering to hide how much he enjoyed checking himself out. "I need to try more colors like these. Man, if makeup wasn't so tedious, I might just try to become a makeup artist."

Nothing beat the feeling of being able to find something that fit you just right. Except finding it for someone else. And Helena felt so happy when Sprinkles admitted he liked the makeup. Helena smiled, watching the genuine joy on Sprinkles' face as he looked in the mirror made her feel like herself again. Something Helena had been missing during these days and weeks.
"I have plenty of more colours to try out."
Helena said, still excited, and tapped the next colour she wanted to try next. Surprisingly it was green, light mint green.
"And don't worry, I'll just become a makeup artist and do all this tedious work for you. With the right price, of course."
Helena joked a bit, and winked at Sprinkles with a small grin. This was fun. It reminded Helena of her early teen years and how she tested out all kinds of makeup by herself or with friends.

Sprinkles playfully stuck out his tongue at Helena. "I deserve a friendship discount for encouraging you to pursue the career."

He looked down at what Helena was tapping. A mint green. That was an interesting color. He fidgeted with the clips in his hair, a few of which were that color. And yet, he hesitated, still worried it wouldn't match. That was nonsense, however. He had all these pretty colors on, if they matched what he wore, that would only emphasize his cuteness.

With a dramatic slap of his cheeks, he gave Helena a determined look. "I'm ready to be your canvas. Do your work, makeup artist... Unless I have to pay you. Then do your work and give me a chance to bail out before I have to pay," he said, followed by a giggle.

Helena lifted a hand to her chin and pretended to consider Sprinkles' suggestion about a friendship discount. Eventually Helena grinned a bit and answered,
"Hmmm, you drive a hard bargain, my friend. I will consider it."
Helena chuckled, in truth she could never really become a makeup artist. But it was nice to joke around like this.

Helena was waiting for Sprinkles to voice his uncertainty, for him to need more encouragement, and that would've been completely fine with Helena. Encouraging and comforting were kind of her thing. But instead Sprinkles slapped his own cheeks and proclaimed his resolve to be Helena's canvas. Helena's face lit up with a smile and she laughed a bit, picking up the mint green eyeshadow and posed with it for a bit.
"At your service. This makeup will be called the Mona Lisa of the beautician. And I guess I can give you 100% friendship discount, since you insist so much."
Helena let out a dramatic sigh, but soon it changed into a smile as she quickly whipped out another makeup brush and pushed some makeup remover wipes to Sprinkles' direction.
"But before that I need a clean canvas. Unless you want to immortalize this moment before that?"
Helena pulled out her phone, opening the camera.

Sprinkles nodded eagerly. Taking pictures was so fun. He wasn't allowed to before, but since coming here, he would take selfies, photograph food, and make vlogs for himself. So when Helena offered, Sprinkles quickly positioned himself beside her so they could take a group selfie. Afterward, he continued to be Helena's canvas. Each new look he was given was celebrated with another selfie.
