Hayden had finally shaken his bodyguard escort, and was on the hunt for somewhere shady to lean back and listen to music. He resented the accompaniment (it seriously infringed on his game), and the darkest reaches of the city were the easiest to lose them in. Bewildered and annoyed, the two muscular dimwits would search for him a while longer before buzzing his cell phone (which was on vibrate and he would adamantly ignore). Then they would use the tracker they had installed on his phone, just to find that he had disabled it. Or more like made it look like he was in the North Pole visiting Santa. After that, they would grumble about spoiled rich brats before heading back to his car and waiting for his ass to show up, maybe with a black eye or suspiciously ruffled clothes. On one occasion, no clothes at all. But that's a different story.

For now, he was jauntily walking down the street past alleyway after alleyway of dark and disturbing. Creeps and monsters of all varieties stared after him, and he got wolf whistles from both genders. It was his sheer boyish luck he hadn't been killed yet, or had some experience scare him straight. Just as he was beginning to get bored, he heard something odd in the distance. Singing, almost.
