Being new sucked, being small sucked even more. Dodging under people's feet as not to get squashed, he found a spot out of the way, he looked down at his map of the school, looking for the library, where it'd be quiet, and safe, at least, running less risk of being crushed. He began walking in the direction of the library, before making a last minute decision to make a detour, and decided on a route that would show him most of the school before ending at the library doors. He looked up at the library and smiled a little. It seemed quiet enough, so he shouldn't have that much problem with his sensitive ears.

He opened the doors and looked around. Bookshelves upon bookshelves greeted him. He entered timidly, looking around. He went past the reception desk and looked among the different shelves for a book. Finding a couple he found somewhere to sit, finding it more comfortable on the floor. He just hoped he was far enough out of the way.

Skipping along the hall was the bundle of energy that heavily contrasted her origin in the minds of other students who equated The Void to vast nothingness. She could tell anyone that that wasn't the case. But ask her cousin, and they'd get an additional history lesson.

Lorencia headed for the library to grab a book she found a few days ago that might grab Devias' interest. Just before entering, she took a deep breath to get herself into the appropriate mindset, since the last time she was here, the librarian didn't appreciate her being so loud.

But as soon as she got inside, all that preparation was for nothing as she continued to skip through as if she was in a field of flowers, humming a bouncy song. Luckily, the librarian today was the one Devias had befriended, and as such, the warning he gave to the girl sounded more like a suggestion.

In such a quiet place, Lorencia was humming a lot louder than she thought. She dialed it down of course, but she continued on skipping, albeit in a more subtle way. The book she was looking for was at the upper half of the shelves, and so she wasn't looking at where her feet were going. It wasn't long until she kicked something on the floor. She noticed the book first, which was flung some distance away, and then she saw a toy. She squatted down to look at it, and was about to pick it up when she noticed that what she saw was not a toy at all, but another student, looking at what it was wearing.

She gasped, cupping her hands over her mouth and nose. Then in the tiniest, squeakiest voice she could manage, she said with unparalleled excitement, "Oh my gosh, you're so cute!" Although, this being an excitable Lorencia in the library, her voice was loud enough to be heard half-way across the room.

Helix was just sitting there quietly reading, minding his own business, trying to stay out of the way, when a foot connected with him, knocking him over. He sat up and shook his head when the girl had spoken. Her voice was high pitched, and loud. He covered his ears with a squeak, not sure if she was actually loud, or if it was because she was close to him, it could have been both for all he knew. The sound was ringing in his ears, and he knew they were words, but he couldn't quite make them out from that high pitch. It sounded to him, like what a human calls a dog whistle. A high pitched sonar sound. His ears began to tingle as the ringing faded and he could once again hear properly.

He stood up and stared up at the girl. Why were humans - or almost every other creature - so tall! They're as tall as trees! At least, that's what it seemed like. "Uh-Uh! I'm s-sorry!" He muttered, not sure if the girl could hear him. He didn't know what he had done wrong to deserve to be kicked - and by happenstance, deafened. He uncovered his ears and they flickered back a little.

And it talked too! But considering the large variety of species in this world, that wouldn't be surprising, but still, it delighted Lorencia to no end. "Oh, no no no no, I should be the one apologizing. I wasn't looking where I was going." Realizing that she might have just kicked the tiny person, she felt a whole lot of regret and embarrassment, her body not knowing whether to be horrified or heavily blush.

She almost let out another squeal of delight when she saw how his ears flicked out. He was so unbearably cute, that it was clear that Lorencia was battling her impulse to pick him up and maybe cradle him in her arms.

Looking to the book she had kicked, she quickly got up and retrieved it for the tiny student. She knelt down and sat on her heels, putting the book next to the person who was most likely been reading it. "H-here, sorry for kicking you and your book. I guess I wasn't expecting anyone to be there," Her voice was quieter now, having overcome the excitement. "I hope I didn't hurt you too much."

Helix looked up at the girl slightly wide eyed. "N-No, it's fine... I-I'm fine... N-Not hurt." He smiled a little, his ears flicking back to their normal position, only to flutter like wings as he smiled a little nervously. "I-It's easy not to n-notice me, when I'm so sm-small." The tiny creature replied. He picked up his book and put it back on the shelf, then stared at the girl, taking in her appearance. "M-My name's Helix. H-Helix Waterwaver." That's what humans did right? They introduced each themselves by name? He new the basics of interactions, and a lot of their mannerisms seem to be the same, but he wasn't used to being around humans, so he didn't know what was similar and what was different.

His ears fluttered too!? 'OH MY GOSH! HE IS SO CUTE!' How could something be so cute? Just how was it possible? Lorencia nodded a little when he said that it was hard to notice him, being the height that he was. Although that didn't change the fact that she had kicked him.

"It's nice to meet you, Helix! My name is Lorencia Hel'Sarie." She kept her voice low for Helix' sake, and also so she wouldn't be asked to leave for being so loud. "Where are you from, Helix? Are you new here?"
