It was the early evening, and Sammy was supposed to be on her way home from school. Buuuut...some horses in the stables have caught her eye. Her 'artistic' eye. A beautiful palomino mare was in the far right stall making silly faces, flapping her lips at Sammy on her way over. She assumed that the mare was trying to get her attention, so she just up and decided to give her some pets and scratches. There wasn't anybody around to protest so why not?
After a while the horse had turned away to eat some of her feed, and out came Sammy's sketchbook. It wasn't getting dark just yet, but she was still trying to rush through the sketch so she wouldn't make her parents worry. It wasn't her best work certainly, but Sammy hoped that maybe one day soon she could meet this mare again and redraw her. The proportions were a tad bit off this time.
Sammy thought to herself, 'Ugh...the legs look weird I can't...get them right...'
And so she kept drawing and redrawing the legs to the point where it was hard to tell if the thing on the page was a horse or some sort of tentacle/horse hybrid.
Giving up, she dropped the sketchbook and purse on the floor of the stables and put her hands up to the stall gate, watching the mare. The horse seemed rather young, maybe only a year or two old. That explained its pretty active nature earlier on...
Sammy was so focused on the horse that she didn't hear footsteps quietly echoing around the stables, even as the mare perked her ears up toward the sound.
