Lo entered the building after kissing her foster parents goodbye. She stood there for a moment, taking in the scenery. I'm in...an academy. I can't go home now. The realization killed her a little inside. She sighed softly, brushing her delicate fingertips over her temples and rubbing them. I can do this...I hope. She slowly but surely put one foot in front of the other, making her way to the office. It took the secretary a few minutes before discovering she was there. She was given her admissions papers and started to fill them out, her handwriting sloppy and loopy. She glanced around the office, her dull eyes scanning the room for anyone who could perhaps save her from the awkward silence. She finished her papers and set them neatly down on the desk. She was then given her room key and her map, which she studied hard. She bit her lip in concentration, attempting to memorize the map before crumpling it up and throwing it away. I won't be needing that. She made no sound as she loomed over the trash can and stared at the crumpled piece of paper. She made a small gasping sound, wondering why she did that. She figured it was the nerves and turned away from it. She shivered a little bit, her bare, pale arms starting to form goosebumps. She willed herself to leave the office, but she could feel her heart beating out of her chest. I'm just...just a ghost girl, basically. No one will notice me anyway. I shouldn't...I mustn't be afraid.
She turned around and looked at the secretary, her eyes yearning for her to say something to her. She wanted her to make some conversation, maybe give her a few words of advice. But of course, that did not happen. She was ignored for probably the millionth time. Lo took another step towards the door, but nothing she thought could will her to open it. To pass time until she gained the confidence, she started counting her goosebumps. One, two, three... She blinked twice before looking up and sighing. What am I doing? Why am I doing this? I should not even have to touch that door knob. I should be able to pass through that door...since I'm pretty much invisible. She tapped her feet, yet they still didn't make a sound against the rug. I shouldn't be nervous. No one cares about the invisible girl...the shadow child.
