Personality Description: SUPER HYPER HAPPY AND EXCITED TO BE ATTENDING A MAGIC SCHOOL!! It's just like the books and stories she read and heard about growing up! Because of this she's always excited and happy and positive when with her twin, friends, and meeting new people. She's also looking forward to learning all she can about magic and the supernatural so she loves the prospect of classes and learning but when it comes to doing the actual work she's a bit lazy and easily distracted, unlike her studious focused twin brother. Her major positivity also has a downside, when she's alone and not with others she tends to be a lot more quiet and seemingly sad. Also if someone doesn't get along with or seems annoyed by her just as she's easily excitable she's also easily upset, so her supreme happiness is also threatened by being majorly upset, emotional extremes. She also wants to be friends with everyone which makes her overly trusting, something she believes is good but others like her brother perceive this as a bad thing that can make her taken advantage of.
Powers:
Light Magic - Spells that range from a glimmer of light to a massive blinding flash, that is if Ruby ever learns more in this field.
- Branch 1 Illumination - By concentrating incredibly hard Ruby can pull off an orb of light at the end of her wand that can act as a torch or lantern. Due to her inexperience while performing this spell she has to focus solely on visualizing the light, though it flickers a lot and she can't make conversation while performing it. With more practice and better guidance she may improve to being able to talk and increase the brightness or dimness of the light as well as prevent it from flickering, but not as of yet.
Weaknesses/Limitations: Being a young Mage, Ruby can come to learn a great amount of magic, however she has received very little training at all aside from some from her Uncle upon learning she possesses an affinity to use magic.
In order to even use magic she needs a conduit to cast spells, this being her wand hand crafted for her by her Uncle. She cannot cast spells on her own without the wand, as it is imbued as a magical item. Whether or not she can cast magic with other magical items has yet to be tested, but she's attuned to her wand specifically.
To cast a spell she has to clear her mind and focus on it, imagining it and picturing it happen. If it's a long term spell like casting a light she needs to continue focusing on the action to do it, though perhaps one day she'll be able to cast spells and multi-task with less concentration as it becomes more natural, but as a novice and downright amateur in magic it requires a lot of focus for her to even pull anything off.
Her spells don't require incantations but she recites them aloud anyway because currently it helps her focus and visualize the spell actually occurring.
Another limitation on her part is actually memorizing a spell incantation since she regularly mixes up and mishears words, so a major factor preventing her from even pulling off audible spells is memorization of the correct words.
Biography: Up until age 11 Ruby enjoyed a basic, ordinary life, always believing in magic and the supernatural. Something happened to her parents that resulted in her and Arvin being sent off to live with their Uncle for 2 years. During that time Ruby enjoyed hanging out with her friends and an average school life while her Uncle trained Arvin with magic in secret, believing only one twin possessed an affinity for magic. That all changed when her brother left his wand lying around and she started playing around with it acting out scenes from one of her book series, and the wand responded to her. Upon realizing she had a knack for magic herself their Uncle began training her for a month, deciding to send them both off to Starlight Academy in lieu of realizing both twins had potential and no longer fearing having to split them up. Now with her twin in tow Ruby is excited to be arriving at a real life magic school and learning all that she can as a complete novice in this whole new world.
