She didn't know how she ended up at the party. Today Ophelia had felt more disconnected from reality. The world a constant hum around her, swirls of phosphorescent light surrounded her, the sun a bright ball of neon sending bathing the world in alternating pink, blue, and yellow hues. And the party, people were bundled together in as glowing balls of effervescence. The vibrations of the dance floor trembled through her as she bowed her head dancing to her own separate beat. She saw him when she opened her eyes, a bright red amongst the sea of pink and blue. The air itself seemed to
hum and crackle around him. She was drawn to him, a bright beacon of comfort, and before she knew it she was accompanying him out into the chilled evening air.
"Well...that was something," he chuckled at her,
"to think, holidays haven't even started yet, but seems people are already celebrating."
She beamed up at him, "
How can people not celebrate in a night like this? All the light, and music, all it makes me want to do is dance."
Her head bobbing to the steady
beat emanating from him she leaned against him, pressing her ear towards his chest. It was as if the sound was pumping steadily from his heart thrumming through his veins and outwards steadily into the night. She stands there for a few moments, burrowing into him until she feels him slip something off from him.
"N
ice night, it's been getting colder though."
In his hands he held a blanket of glowing orange light, it rustled slightly in the air as if it were a wave in the ocean. She could feel the heat bearing off it, the steady warmth streaming into the night. She envelopes herself within it, her very core warming beneath its embrace. She grasps his arm in gratitude but then lets the blanket fall to the ground and whispers up at him, "
How can you stay still listening to this beat? Dance with me."
As she lets go, no heed to whether he follows her, she begins to dance slowly, in the steady rhythm of the night. She feels out tentatively with her emotional bond and sends him a glimpse of how she was experiencing the world, in all of its musical effervescent glory.
