"You're supposed to be a goody two shoes, not a smart ass."
Tomo said with a smirk and snickered a bit, not really meaning it. She had long ago learned Lucas wasn't just some simple goody two shoes or a teacher's pet, he was much more than that. He just mostly let on a lot less. So Tomo was happy that Lucas was able to drop his guard around her. Maybe a bit too happy, and Tomo mentally punched whatever feeling was trying to come up.
"Yeah, I think we got different definitions of fun."
Tomo muttered back and booped the puppy kitten on the nose. It retaliated by mrow-growling in a weird hollow voice and swiped a tiny clawed paw at Tomo's hand. She easily dodged the swipe and bapped the baby on the forehead.
"I've been a cat way longer than you, don't try me you brat."
Tomo was a bit freaked out by this thing's voice and weird lifeless eyes, but it acted and looked realistic enough. She let it be, and instead turned to look at Lucas again. A pretty new feeling, worry, was swelling inside her, and it was much more intense than before Kenny had done his magic on her. Lucas had been pulled aside by the teacher earlier, and though Tomo didn't exactly know what there was some shit going on with Lucas' family, and dad. Tomo didn't know the first thing about families, and she had her own shit to worry about with Shiro and Tada, but despite all that she couldn't let it go. Tomo was worried about Lucas, and it didn't help that he seemed to be having trouble even looking at this baby thing. There was something else going on, Tomo just knew it. But she wouldn't ask. Before she would've, without hesitation, but now Tomo knew that she shouldn't just blurt everything out. How did she know that? How the fuck should she know.
Tomo raised a brow at Lucas when he asked if it was a her thing.
"You really think I would naturally sprout powers meant to help others? Yeah, right."
Tomo scoffed a bit and looked at the sky, swiping some hair off her face.
"It's a regalia thing, I thought it might...be useful."
Tomo shrugged, still laying on the ground. There was no way she was telling Lucas that she wanted to help heal Shiro, at least partially, but Shiro wanted nothing to do with this ability, or Kenny. And it was eating at Tomo, especially since she could literally see how fractured Shiro's soul was. But Tomo wouldn't, couldn't, heal Shiro without her permission, especially since she seemed genuinely scared of healing magic.
It all sucked, really. The only person Tomo had been able to help with this power was herself, and in the long run that was useless.
Tomo wasn't near convinced by the reluctant grabby hand Lucas made at the doll, so instead of giving the doll to him Tomo sat up and the puppy kitten fell to her lap. It looked up at her disapprovingly and started climbing up her shirt. Tomo just ignored it and looked at Lucas with observative, and concerned, eyes.
"Do you though?"
There was a special tone in Tomo's voice, that was meant to probe and indirectly ask Lucas "are you okay dude?". It had come along with empathy.
