Elessa chuckled, though she subtly moved to pat Essa's side comfortingly. "Oh, if you really want to see something wait until later. I promised Essa i'd show off the new bathing suit she insisted I buy- and it's quite attention-grabbing."

She glanced over at her invisible companion as if conferring and then laughed a little more. "Sadly she doesn't wish for me to share what she's wearing, but then she can be a bit of a tease at times." The latter statement clearly getting a rise from her, as Elessa's hair moved as if being pulled at.

The two laughed at the hair pulling, though Jao's was more subdued as opposed to Myst's boisterous one. The latter attracted the eyes of a few people around, causing Jao to move closer to Myst in an attempt to hide herself from their gaze. All the more eyes on Myst, just as he liked it.

"Don't worry, Essa, I'm on your side. I'd also want to hide what I'm wearing if there were were potential creeps wanting to leer at me."

"In all fairness, being a tease is pretty evil. Leaving it all to the imagination is haunting. She's making people want what they can't see."

Elessa eyed the crowd of growing attention that had turned towards them but shrugged it off. She didn't mind being the center of attention- in fact that part made her smile. What the others said though... made her smile disappear almost instantly.

"It's ok for me to make jokes because we're close but be careful how far you take it. It's not her fault she can't be seen by most people." Her tone of voice dipped lower, with a touch of malice woven in before she relaxed again.

"But what's a little bit of clawing at a sore spot among flirty folks?" She asked in a bit more of a lighthearted bit of sarcasm and shrugged. Making sure to take a hearty swig from her drink as additional punctuation.

Myst let out a soft, "Oof," but what really concerned him was Jao. He caught her visibly flinch at Elessa's response. Telepathy wasn't needed to know she was struggling to come up with a response.

"Mm, we get it. I go too far with my jokes. Jao was just trying to follow along." The playfulness mostly left his voice, leaving only causality. There was no sign that he was offended because he wasn't. Not really. It sucked, but language was fickle and there was no guarantee that intention would translate well. "We didn't know it was a permanent thing. Figured she was shy or actually waiting for the right time to reveal herself."

Jao stood quietly by Myst, wearing an unreadable expression. There was a tense nod to show she followed what Myst had explained, then an observation of the room for anything else to focus on. Preferably far away from here.

Elessa shrugged and lowered her cup with a glance between the dream-beings. "I don't intend to hold the lapse in judgment against you- but now you know. It's unfortunate that the mood has soured somewhat," she replied and then nodded at Essa as the intangible woman pointed out Jao's now disinterested gazing about the room.

"If you'd rather find someone else to speak with you won't offend me by doing so. I know that if Essa had truly wanted to leave this conversation I'd have done so with little hesitation"

Myst looked over at Jao. He didn't really care if the conversation continued or not. Accidents happened. That was part of the fun of interacting with people. But for someone who followed so strictly to rules, where there was a clear way to do something correctly and incorrectly, it hit harder. He could see she wasn't enjoying herself anymore. He could feel it, to be more accurate.

"Being real, we should probably leave the party. We got a nuisance to take care of anyway, yeah?" He nudged Jao, trying to get her refocused on the conversation.

"Yeah," she replied flatly.

"But! It was chill talking to you. Well, until it wasn't chill, but y'know, shit happens. That's how it be at parties."
