Eein came to the forest often, it was basically a second home to him. The entire environment was calming to him, it was something he loved. So here he was wandering about, when his sharp ears picked up something.

The dragon would follow the sound curiously, quickly discovering a fox biting at something in a grouping of flowers. Squinting he'd then see something else, a tiny person dodging the fox, a fairy or a pixie.

Moving quickly he'd grab up the fox by the scruff of it's neck, letting out a dragon roar right in its face. The animal would whine and shake in fear, Eein would drop it to the side, letting it run off to the side. The young dragon would crouch besides the flowers. "You ok?" he'd ask, leaning toward the flowers, "are you hurt?"

Autumn was a beautiful time. The leaves turn beautiful colors and mat the ground. Cara found enjoyment in fluttering among the falling leaves as the breeze picks them off the twigs and branches. Autumn was also a good time for Cara for other reasons. She could feel her power getting stronger as winter gets even nearer. However, her garden was also succumbing to the cold. She found a little plot of land within the forest that had a nice clearing for growing a bed of flowers. She didn't know what a lot of them were called by the people on the island, but they were pretty and some of them were really fragrant as well. Perhaps the most enjoyable thing about making the garden, aside from watching the flowers grow and bloom, were watching the bees visit. Cara sat on top of a violet flower, blowing little ice clouds into the air and generally talking to herself. That's when she heard a rustling. And before she knew it, she saw a hungry fox pouncing towards her. She quickly blasted the animal with a face full of ice and retreated under the flowers. The fox tore at her garden trying to find her. She wasn't too worried, she knew that hiding underneath the fragrant ones would make the fox lose her scent. What surprised her was the sudden roar followed by the fox' yelp of utter fear. And then, there was a voice asking if she were alright. "Did you hurt the fox?" she asked, peaking out from between white and red flower petals.

He'd wave his finger at her and shake his head. "No, I wouldn't want to hurt it, it was just following its instincts," he'd nod, "food for them is getting a little more scarce with winter nearing, so can't really blame them." He loved nature and all animals in it, he'd learned about them at a young age from his parents.

"That said....I'm more concerned about you," he'd say, giving her a reassuring smile, "are you hurt?" The dragon would settle on the ground, being careful not to disturb the flowers. "Smelt and heard the fox, came out of curiosity, guess it was a good thing I did."

Once he was sure she was fine he would glance between the pixie at the flowers. "Have you been maintaining these?" raising his hand, he'd very gently touch one of them, "they're beautiful."

Well good, this person knew the fox wasn't to blame for its actions. He was sensible at least, and she gave a nod of approval. "I'm fine. Predators normally leave before long. My scent would have been masked by the flowers." She hovered a few inches off a flower as her unexpected guest inspected them. "Yes, I've made this spot my garden. Not many people disturb them here. I have collected these flowers from the forest with the help of bees."

"Its because all the plants are starting to go dormant as winter approaches," he'd say with a nod, "the garden kinda sticks out, fox was probably curious and then noticed you bouncing about in there." His blue eyes looked over the garden curiously, it was actually really beautiful.

"Bees?" he'd ask curiously, tilting his head, "can you communicate with them?" Now that was interesting, already it was apparent that the fairy had a deep connection with nature.

"Do you live out here?" he'd ask, realizing she must spend a lot of time out here. "You....maybe have seen me around actually, from a distance in my dragon form, I'm out here in the forest pretty much daily."

"Not in the normal talking way, no. I mean, I do talk to them, but it's not like they understand words. We just establish a connection. I take care of the flowers, the bees get their nectar for honey, and in the process they distribute pollen that will let more flowers grow. In turn, I help protect their hive any way I can." Cara sat on a flower as they talked. "Yes, I live here. I found a hollow tree that a friendly owl used for a nest. I don't think I have noticed you before. There are a lot of creatures and people who pass by here though."

The young dragon would hum thoughtfully. "That's interesting," he'd tilt his head, "my mother was able to communicate with animals, she was able to make peace with a wolf pack and bear that loved near our home."

"Not as often as I do," he'd say with a small chuckle, "I spend more time here than anywhere else, more comfortable in the woods than in the city." He loved the woods and nature in general, loved it far more than the noisy city so many people lived in.

"How long have you been out here?" he'd ask curiously, "I'm assuming your not new to the island." It seemed like she was well settled, not a new arrival.

"I have been here for a whole cycle, and nearing completion of another. I mean, almost two years now. But I have been here in the past before." She rubbed her arm. Remembering that special person that she had met the first and last time she was here was heart-breaking, but she had learned to cope, somewhat. "I am unsure how long ago that was, but the city wasn't as large. The buildings were a lot shorter."

"Two years, longer than me, I've been here just a little over a year," so much had happened in that year, things happening around him and to him. "Things change so much, so fast," he'd say with a slightly sad sigh, "everything seems to have changed since I got here."

His finger would very gently run over a flower. "Feel like I'm stagnating, like I'm the same, while everything else is growing."

The dragon would then offer her a smile. "But this...," he'd motion to the flower and the forest, "this is something I don't want to change, I always want there to be a forest and flowers, and the kind people who take care of it," he'd motion to her as he said that last part.

Cara was confused at the things he was saying. People here were always an enigma for her, not knowing whether or not they were speaking literally or as a figure of speech. "Well, there will always be forests and those who take care of them. Even if someone would burn it all down, nature will make it bloom again. In time, nature will reclaim the city too, as with most villages, once its inhabitants move away or pass. It's all part of a cycle. Changes come and go, and even if you feel like you are not growing, you are, you just don't notice it because you look too closely and miss the things that happen around you. And if you keep looking at something that changes very slowly, you will not be able to tell that it changed at all."
