She has smooth pale skin and rosy cheeks. Her straight dark brown hair is usually cut to just above shoulder-length and layered. She has bluish-grey eyes. Her fashion sense is classically feminine and modest, only wearing skirts and dresses, never too tight or revealing, with no makeup. Penny prefers clothes in pastel colours, black, or white - plain with maybe a bit of lace. Generally, her demeanour is meek and quiet. She is soft-spoken, with a lilting voice.
Natural form -
The kililitu's natural form has the body, head, and flippers of an abnormally large and wrinkly walrus with the face of a star-nosed mole. Its front flippers have long, flat, mole-like burrowing claws. The colouring of its skin is a distinctive shade of blue somewhere between royal and navy, with a rainbow oil slick sheen. The kilititu has no eyes and a distinctive nose surrounded by 21 specialized appendages in a star shape, much like those of the star-nosed mole. Instead of a mole or walrus mouth, it has a gaping circular maw with many rows of serrated teeth which actually rotate within like a drill. In this form, Penny is completely sexless. Her voice in this form is deep and gravelly, with a rumbling bass undertone that is more felt than heard.
Personality Description:
On the surface, Penny is almost exactly what someone might expect a woman who was on the road to becoming a nun to be. A quiet, modest, contemplative, prayerful, deeply Christian woman. And in spite of this being only the latest of her many incarnations and carrying many lifetimes of emotional baggage, it's not entirely inaccurate. In fact, she is quite merciful and sympathetic because of a deep-seated guilt over the things she has done in past lives. Her religion is partially an attempt at atonement. She believes in mercy because she received none that she is aware of, and though she isn't too sure how to feel about the Christian god, she values Christianity's ideals. Penitence lives a generous, simple life, viewing everything as a gift to be shared. Even though she can't eat candy herself, she still enjoys making it for others because it's an innocent way to bring a little bit of joy to others lives and a good creative outlet.
Penitence does have some rather old-fashioned, possibly backwards beliefs, to the point where she feels some guilt over being a lesbian, but she is aware that this is because of her upbringing and would never judge anyone for that, even if she weren't one herself. She is also chaste, strictly monogamous, believing in no sex before marriage. This even allows her to "smell" underwater. Tough leathery skin is hard to penetrate with normal weapons, could stop a close-range 9mm bullet. Rather lumbering and slow on land, could barely move faster than a normal human's walking pace.
Burrower - the kililitu's claws actually allow it to phase through rock, sand, dirt, clay, and water without affecting or being affected by her surroundings - she can breathe and move normally, leaving no trace, and not being crushed by pressure or affected by temperature extremes. She must be awake and aware to phase. When phasing, she cannot pass through or affect wood or living creatures, though they can still affect her. If she stopped phasing while underground/water, she would immediately resume being affected by her surroundings. If her claws are removed, she can no longer use this ability. Unfortunately, someone else saw the kililitu and mistook her for a demon. They told the abbess and she sent to the head of the church for instructions. Fortunately, the priest who was sent had connections with Manta Carlos and took Penny aside to inform her about the island. He also recognized the unicorn as a supernatural and extended the offer to her. The unicorn had also fallen in love with Penny and decided to go with her friend.
New on the island, Penny gets a job at a candy store to support herself, and moves in with her new lover, though their relationship is still a chaste one. She also keeps part of her novice name as her legal name, though she returns to her original surname.
