"It was true." Octain waved his hand, showing a man, looking almost like a skeleton. Half alive and half dead almost. "This was how he looked every day. A necromancer of high stature. Even Liches among the world respected him. His name was Algol Delaphones Al Quente Octavius. He sought power. Even to the point of forcing a marriage, promising to bring our family back to it's rightful place in the world. Legends speak that Merlin; the great wizard who taught King Arthur- was a part of our family, though it's a legend. He was not part of our family."
Octain removed his mask and tied it to a string. Though his back was turned to the two of them while he spoke. He looked up then removed his hood as he turned around. A swirling black mist around his face eventually came to a stop and vanished.
Showing a man with stubble for a beard, a face of a prince except for a long gash running across his face. The vision of the father and son side by side looked almost identical. Except Octa- no. Orais. Had more life inside him looking like he could have been a knight beside the decrepit old man. The vision faded.
"Brother.. I can see why your girlfriend loves being around you. You grew up to be a handsome man." Lyndis spoke as she turned to Vin. "This is the only thing you will ever keep secret from your husband. You're master's face."
Octain looked at Vin. "Yes, in fact. My main goal here is to find the family records. Of past families. Those long gone, and those who are still alive. Backed away or not. I wish to reunite our families, not under a monarchy, but a democracy. Myself only playing as the figure head of the new Cryptics. Or shall I rename them.. magicae vigilate. Yes. Keeping a watch on the world using magic. And only showing ourselves in the worlds darkest moments. I have much to learn about that from Brother Hyperion."
Octain rubbed his chin. Trying to figure out how to go about learning from his friend and most trusted adviser.
"Brother, are you telling me, that you are allowing an outsider into our ranks? Though the name I am not against, but allowing Aurum into the ranks is against the rules." She crossed her arms. Almost trying to looking for a confrontation. "Hmm? So? Spill the beans, Are you looking into marrying Genesis or not?"
"Oh no sister, we can talk about this after, with Aurum in the room, by my recollection of the rules, my choice to allow a family in must come from the families, or from an interview with the Inquisitor and the family head. Which is us." He grinned a bit. Knowing he trapped her in her own game. Instead of allowing Octain to do as he pleased. He was a man who always held a card up his sleeve. "And Vin, the books you are looking for all state "Octavius line blank. The blank states a number, One being my line. and two through... how ever many that are still readable, are other families and how close or their place. One through Nine would be considered Royalty. Though.."
Lyndis decided to finish his sentence. "You wouldn't be able to read them anyways. Ancient magic are on the books to only allow family members to read this. And by the by? Octain's real name is Orais. Octain is a moniker of sorts, the name of him under the mask. Please try to respect his wishes when he has the mask on. Mask on Teacher student. Mask off Friend to friend."
She stated as she looked at Vin for a moment, with a bit a cute smile on her face, trying to get the point across. "Do it for lil old me?"
