Just for practice? Well Serafina didn't know too many artists, so she would have to take him at his word. If that was 'just practice', painting must be a really intense hobby. She wondered idly if the subject was imaginary or if it was based on a real place.

"Sure, lets go." She responded, adjusting her bag. "Thanks again for showing me the way." She couldn't say she was used to asking strangers for help, but this was a new place. A fresh start warranted some uncharacteristic behavior, right? Either way, he didn't know her, so what did it matter, right?

She scooted out the door at his gesture, taking a few steps backwards to get out of his way. "Allan," she repeated. "I'm Serafina." She stuck out her hand. Handshakes are normal right? "It's nice to meet you."

"No worries," Allan responded smiling at her. He had to try being sociable at least, "Honestly, I got lost of my first day here too. And that was just the administration building," he managed to jest. He figured she might have needed to laugh it out. No one could really blame the new kids about getting lost considering the size of that academy without some sort of map. Getting around the school grounds took some time to be a conscious thing before it became routine for him.

He returned the handshake, careful not to make his hold too firm, or linger the contact too much. "Nice to meet you, Serafina," he nodded, making sure to repeat her name as if trying to test out the sound if it. "You have a lovely name," he added, leading the way along the hallway.

"So, um.." Allan had to admit, he was really bad at small talk, "Choosing majors? Have you actually decided or still just figuring things out?"

"Oh!" She almost flinched at the compliment. What did he want from her? Was he being manipulative? Was he dangerous? Could she win if it came to a fight? Probably not. A chill crept over her skin for a brief moment as these thoughts and more raced through her mind. No, she thought deliberately, stop. He's just being nice. Relax.

"Thank you." She said as she set a convincing smile on her face. Only a few seconds had passed during her internal debate. This wasn't a strange reaction for her to have to new people, but she did cringe a little at the trigger. People are only nice when they want something from you, whispered an annoying, but persistent voice in her head.

"Well," She said, forcing herself to behave normally as they walked through the building, "I'm very undecided. I never planned to go to college, and I've been doing food service for two years now." She laughed once, "I wasn't going to turn down free college, right?" She shrugged and began to feel a bit at ease. "I figure physics made sense to me in high school, so I might start there?" Her uncertainty turned the statement into a question. "How about you? Uh... art major?"

For a second, Allan wasn't sure if he might have picked a nerve when he'd complimented her for her name, or it was his anxiety talking. Was he too forward or did she have something about her name she wasn't too fond of? Allan wasn't sure, but he's thinking he shouldn't have said anything. He could probably berate himself for it but when all things were said and done, there was no taking it back. He could have possibly made her uncomfortable around him already and it hasn't even been 30 minutes yet.

A shame though,, he thought, he really thought her name was very pretty.

"Don't mention it." Allan returned a smile when she spoke, keeping his inner turmoil under wraps. She didn't need to know about his anxiety issues 30 minutes into knowing him, right?

Allan kept his gaze forward, afraid that if he looked towards her direction she'd realize he was a little antsy. "Well, I wouldn't really encourage going into majors half-heartedly. It gets stressful when you get further in and you kind of start hating it sometimes," he hummed thoughfully, giving himself a moment to look back. He had taken another college major before he moved to Starlight, and he was pretty sure he didn't enjoy all of his time in Computer Science.

"Then again, it's not like the tuition is gonna bite you back so there's really no pressure or anything," he continued, glancing at Serafina with an unsure smile. "And yeah; major in Fine Arts. I always liked art and figured I could expand my reach or something. Maybe I'll get a career for it or something. You?"
