Appearance Description: Old Jack is distinctly inhuman, sporting his thin body and large rocky forearms, he looks more like he works construction than a butcher shop. Without his hair he stands at about 6'6", his hair puts him just over seven feet. His back sports a pair of scars from where his wings used to be before he lost them and the front portion of his face is actually a permanent mask of sorts he wears to hide his disfigurement. He also sports a pair of intricately crafted magic circles o his feet. Aside from those major wounds he sports smaller scars that have healed over, hinting at his rather difficult past before coming to Manta Carlos.
Personality Description: He is the epitome of the grumpy old man. He’s foul mouthed and likes to smoke his cigarettes and read the paper. Usually throwing some manner of wisdom out to anyone younger than himself while complaining about his achy joints, back, whatever really. He has a reputation for being gruff and prickly but he genuinely cares for people close to him. In spite of his old man like mannerisms in terms of his species he’s not particularly old. He abandoned his real name some time ago, in exchange for the name Old Jack. While he talks and acts old it’s really all relative, once you realize how spry and agile this curmudgeon really is.
Powers: Jumping magic: thanks to magic circles on his feet, Jack can utilize as he calls it, Jumping magic. Jack can jump up to four stories into the air from a solid point without taking any damage, so long as he lands on his feet. He can also jump off of air so long as he’s already jumped and is switching directions. If he’s jumped vertically, he can spring off of the air and move horizontally. The air jumps only go twenty feet in whichever direction they happen to be going. Passively (and in spite of anything he says) this magic enhances his reflexed and augments his natural agility, making him surprisingly tricky to capture. He also seems to naturally know how to land and minimize damage regardless of the nature of the fall.
Fire breath: During the period he obtained the jumping magic he actually had a flame sac from a dragon implanted in him. Allowing him to breathe a blue flames. While he’s immune to the fire he breathes he cannot further manipulate it outside of exhaling it in either a stream or fireballs. A stream can go up to ten feet, while a fireball can go roughly fifteen before fizzing out.
Species Abilities: As a gargoyle, Jack possesses stone hard skin on a level comparable to granite. He’s also functionally immortal, his nature of being a rather crotchety old man stems from the extended time he’s spent living among humans, where he was considered “old”. He possesses enough strength to lift an SUV over his head with relative ease. He possesses elemental resistance to fire and wind, and is primarily weakened by water and electricity. He can tolerate a shotgun blast with minimal injuries, however higher caliber rounds will damage him. Jack is also susceptible to magic and magically augmented weapons. Underneath his stone like skin, his organs are all soft and fleshy as one would expect of most organic beings.
Biography: He was born to a small tribe of gargoyles in the British isles centuries ago, and lived out a relatively peaceful existence hidden away from the world until humans discovered their village and proceeded to hunt them down. He was, as far as he knows the only person to survive the attack. And he only barely managed that, as he was left wingless and thoroughly disfigured in his face. He began traveling, the country until he found himself a cave and settled in relative isolation there. He was eventually discovered by a wizard who gave him his mask and gifted him with jumping magic and a the breath of a dragon.
Fast forward to the eighteenth century Jack got himself captured by supernatural slavers and auctioned off in London where he effectively remained somewhere between an entertainment source and a servant for a particularly wealthy family. He was also used in fighting rings to earn extra cash. It took roughly a century before he devised his escape which led to a brief scare in London due to a devil being on the loose.
By the early twentieth century, Old Jack settled on Manta Carlos and opened his butcher shop, appropriately named after him. Eventually gaining a competitive edge over many of the other butcher shops due to the specialization in human meat and various cuts, even having it prepped in various styles even though Jack himself isn’t a natural born flesh eater. He’s recently passed on ownership to Bradley Davis so that he can enjoy retirement and work on a few other projects.
