François almost moaned when the teacher started lecturing at the front of the class; English by far was his worst subject, and the current topic only made him want to tear the hair from his scalp: they were reading Shakespeare's classic work, MacBeth. Anything other than Shakespeare was bad enough, as he had to go out of pocket for translations anyway, but the Scottish Play deserved its own ring of hell.

"Now, for those of you wondering... No, you won't have to read Macbeth on your own. All the reading will be done in class. That being said, we need to assign parts for reading," the teacher droned, pulling out a pen to scribble names down for who was reading what. François merely rolled his eyes and groaned from his seat. C'est barbant.... he thought, pulling out a pen and discreetly scribbling some words on a piece of scrap paper. Surely, there had to be something better than this!

'Comment tu trouves Macbeth? Ça ne me dit rien. it read. Without even looking, François passed to it the person sitting beside him. It wasn't like the teacher would know what he was saying...

Damien had been 'ordered' to attend high school classes in lieu of the college courses he was scheduled to attend because he was supposed to be scouting new talent and looking for signs of wyrm taint. This was normally fine, but thanks to the enormous amount of 'reality deviants' on the island he had simply kept his directional scanners in off mode as default. He took a seat next to someone who appeared to be about the same age as he was. The kid pulled out a pen and scribbled something down on a piece of paper and passed it to him.

When he opened the note it took him a moment and he activated his directional scanners.
"Identify language text and download subsequent translator module." He mentally ordered his AI program.
"Identified as French. Downloading vocabulary files....download complete, dialect not determined. The AI answered in his head.

After getting that sorted he answered back in the best french he had just then learned.
"Il n'y a rien de trop difficile. Il devient illisible quand traduit en chinois cependant." He replied back before passing the note back to the guy.

François raised an eyebrow at the guy next to him. He didn't seem like a French speaker, but he wasn't going to question how or why. With a. Shrug of his shoulders, he turned his attention to the front of the classroom only for a moment. The teacher was still listing off the roles.

"J'espére que j'ai pas à lire. Je ne parle pas l'anglais," he whispered to his new acquaintance. He hated having to read in class; even if he pronounced the words correctly, he had no idea what was actually being said, and usually, it took a few days for him to get a translated copy if certain novels if the library didn't have them.

"Now then, we need a volunteer for Lord Macbeth. Any takers?" The teacher asked. When he looked around the room and saw no hands raised, he frowned. So, her sorted to actual assigning.

"Alright, no takers? Well then... Hmmm..... François! You get the part. Alright now on to the next part...." He rambled, scribbling the name down on the sheet of paper. François merely stared at the teacher as if he had told him to lift Olympus. Pourqoui moi?

He didn't speak english? Wasn't this class in English?
"Et bien mon ami vous êtes foutu." He said. It was too bad, field agents were required to be trilingual at the very least. Still, he had no idea what kind of reality deviant the guy was.
"pourquoi moi? Cela ne semble pas traduire. Aussi, vous voudrez peut-être dire à l'enseignant que vous ne connaissez pas la langue." He whispered as the teacher continued to talk. By this point their conversation had drawn attention from a few other students.
"Mr. Kusanagi, would you like to share what you two are talking about?" The instructor asked.

"C'est beaucoup dire," François sighed when the guy said he was screwed. His pencil idly rapped on the table as he thought for a moment. Was it really worth the embarrassment of not being understood to simply tell the teacher he didn't speak English? Pretty much everyone here, save the guy next to him, thought he was just extremely quiet.

With a deep breath, he thought about how he was going to go about explaining his situation to the teacher, who just so happened to notice their conversation. Pictures took too long, and nobody here, save his acquaintance right beside him, spoke French. He was in quite the predicament......

Damien thought about it for a moment before he went to answer the teacher.
"I was just discussing the unlikely over dramatizations in the book and how Shakespeare is over rated as far as modern literature goes due to the fact that our current writing style, social status, and methodologies typically date us in a different direction." He said before looking back toward the french guy next to him... Francois apparently.

"Je peux traduire pour vous si vous souhaitez." He said as he moved his attention back to the matter at hand. It was his call, but it might get him out of a lot of things in the class, possibly allowing him to catch a break.
"Finalement, vous voulez apprendre l'anglais. He added. It was unfortunate, but many countries spoke english as a second language, even in Asia... though generally they didn't like french tourists in Japan.. or china... or Thailand.. oh god especially Thailand. Still, here he wasn't a tourist.

"Merci, monsieur." he nodded slightly to Damien. He fiddled with his beret a bit as he thought about what he wanted to say. With a sigh, he decided that I'd be best just to flat out tell the instructor about the language difference.

"Monsieur, je ne parle pas l'anglais. J'ai acheter traductions de façon que je puisse comprendre la lecture," he told the teacher. The teacher simply looked at François like he was insane.

Damien stood up as well.
"He said that he doesn't speak english. He buys the translated texts so that he can understand the reading." He translated. It was awkward. He didn't have a lot of experience as a translator.
"Well he may have trouble keeping up with the class. He will need to get the text as soon as possible."
"
Il a dit que vous pourriez avoir du mal à suivre avec la classe et aurez besoin d'obtenir le texte dès que vous en êtes capable. Si vous avez une tablette ou kindle je pourrai peut-être aider."
He said, offering his help as best he could anyway.
"I'll help him keep up." He added to the professor.
