The library was one of the places of the academy that Adam liked. It had given him a lot as a student, giving him an opportunity to slow down his racing heart after exercising with others he had hung out with then. Now it almost did the same thing - giving him an opportunity to both calm his body after jogging round the nearest sections of the academy, and to give him something soothing to do - reading.

Today though he was in for a different reason. He had not long returned to Starlight Academy, and had taken up the opening of a security officer. The job had appealed to him, as whilst his grandfather had taught him the basics about his family's ability, the school had taught him how to control it and to use it to his advantage. His undecided nature as to if he should become a police officer had also aided in the decision, though he suspected that the academy would be at a slower pace than a regular policeman's job (which suited him just fine).

In theory he was never on break from his new role here at the academy, but the black haired wiry male had had an idea come to him whilst jogging past the library - what if the books here had something more about his ability? With so many animals in the world, he would have been surprised to hear that only his family had the trait of shifting, and having never met anybody outside the family with the ability, Adam Knight wanted to look into it.

Spotting a table near the older books in the library, he dumped his green waist-high jacket on it's dark surface then prowled to the nearest books, tilting his head sideways to read the cracked and or leather-covered spines.

Throughout the ages history has be recorded on parchments of paper. A scholar, librarian or any individual with the know how of writing recorded the events that shaped the world. More often or not it was the victors who made history, at times even kings would tell their historians to not record certain events as it would forever scar their legacy.

As for the fox, she was fragment of those past events as a witness. Sadly one could not see all of life's great moments, it simply was impossible. The books is the closes you can get to the past.

Savannah was stood browsing through a book down one of the aisles searching for a point of interest. It's contents were failing to catch her attention, she frowned. Her tastes were usually along the tales of strife among kingdoms and stories of legendary characters. It was an art form for a person's name to be recorded and spoken of as a hero or a villain. That in itself is a sense of immortality, your name will live on.

The book slipped shut followed by a gentle sigh, she slid it back to where it belong.

The fox turned to leave to find another book, but she first caught sight of another. It appears he was hunting for a read of his own. Did he know what he was looking for? Savannah was fairly well accustomed to the layout of the library and it's whereabouts. Without a second thought she began to slowly pace herself towards the man before her. He looked old enough to not be a student, a teacher perhaps?

"May I intrude on the presumption that you are in search for a particular book?" She called out to him standing herself several feet to his side. Her eyes made a guess to follow where his own were looking, as if to read his mind and find his book before him. Of course that was impossible for her, she'd never know what he was looking for on first meet.

Glancing to his right, Adam looked upon the younger woman that had spoken to him. He gave a soft smile. She was shorter than he was, which was not all that uncommon as most of the female students he had met since returning to the academy had been. What caught his attention though was that not only did she have red eyes, but she also had another set of eyes and a few tails. Her ears also suggested that she her ability might have something to do with a canine or feline of sort (Adam had never been one to tell the difference between cat and dog ears except when they flopped, so he couldn’t tell which). The tails did remind him a little of a fox though.

“I’m Adam, the new security officer,” he said in way of greeting, slotting his left hand into his black cotton trouser pocket. “I was kind of hoping to find out more about the ability to shift into other animals. The history behind it, specifically. My family does it.” He cast a look towards the shelf of books he had been looking at before they had started to talk, then looked back at the student and gave a half-sided shrug. “I don’t really remember which sections cover what topics here, but I remembered this area held a lot of the older books.”

Just as she was beginning to frown and focus on a set of books, the man responded to her. Her head quickly twisted to look up to him. He introduced himself as Adam, a security officer. 'Ah!' Savannah thought. A security officer is similar to that of the town guard, the town's militia. Except he didn't look like had the appearance of a guard? Then again no one carried spears anymore, they used more conventional weapons or in Starlight's case, their own powers.

However once again it seemed this officer was still learning his own gift. That's right, most of the occupants of Manta Carlos were previously human or born with inherited powers of their ancestors. In a way Savannah was similar to the latter, except she was no human to begin with.

"Ah, I see." She began, nodding her head. Savannah side stepped towards Adam, her tails swaying from left to right. "It is quite fortunate that I am frequent caller to this library." Savannah stated nonchalantly.

The fox spirit tilted her head back, glancing over the shelf. He was in the right place for sure. She edged away from Adam with her head held high, she stopped after a moment. What she failed to anticipate was the height difference between the length of her arms and where the book was. Savannah moved up to the shelf and reached her hand up, she was still a whole shelf away from it. Even on her toes she couldn't reach it. She sighed after stretching to her limited.

Savannah sheepishly glanced towards Adam, not wanting to express the obvious that she couldn't reach. It would hurt her pride too much, so instead she pointed up to the book as if she never tried to reach for it in the first place.

He gave a smile when the girl said she was more familiar with the library than he currently was. It was a good thing too - Adam hadn't spotted any who looked like a librarian when he had stepped in. He watched as she moved away than tried to stretch herself talll enough to grab a book higher than her. When she looked to him and pointed at the book, he stepped over.

"What's your name?" he asked curiously, plucking the leatherbound book from the shelf and then holding it in both hands, the front facing up. He frowned curiously at it, recognising that this definitely was one of the older books, then broke into another smile for the lady that had helped him. "Thank you. So why are you in the library today? Maybe we could share tables or help each other?"

(OOC: Sorry for the slow reply!)

Savannah lightly stepped back to give Adam some room, after he received his book she moved forward. When asked for her name she picked the sides of her dress and performed a curtsy before Adam. "I am Savannah Achard." She announced. Upon gazing at his face, she was a little unsure whether she had pointed out the right book or not. It was then she saw his smile towards herself, he had found what he was looking for.

He asked a question and her tails swished slightly. "I am in process of the recollection of the Italian secular music of the early seventeen-hundreds." She answered placing her hands behind her back with a smile. Savannah shortly sighed afterwards. "Is it not strange that some of your most memorable memories are the ones most taken for granted?" The fox girl put out. She shrugged her shoulders as if to answer her own question.

"Though it is not as if I am scheduled to be anywhere or do anything of great importance. I have all my life to remember the past, least I can do is try and live in the present." She said skipping to the other side of Adam. Her head peered over to look at his book again, she hadn't exactly read it herself. Then again she never had the need to read it in the first place. "Oh, may I know your name too?"
