To be quite honest, Faruq wasn't entirely used to rejection. He was fairly attractive, and was rather flirty. It usually made people agree to going on dates with him. But honestly, he probably liked this a lot better. He would go on dates to learn about someone rather than for them to get in his pants, or vice versa. But he wanted to get to know Xavi, even if it wasn't a date. Xavi seemed nice, and was actually nice enough to show an interest in what Faruq did.

He walked along next to Xavi, hands in pockets as he idly thought to himself. He looked at the festival around them as he thought of what they could do together. Faruq's typical ventures with other people was to a coffee shop, then they'd do something relating to their interests some time later. But this was a more impromptu thing so Faruq wasn't as sure what to do. Food is probably the greatest option here.

Xavi wasn't quite sure what was going on. After what had happened with Vexi and Aimouryllice he had become a bit jumpy of other people's intentions. Xavi certainly wasn't the dating type, but he wasn't one to outright reject a date invitation either if he wanted to know more about the person. Xavi was used to handling over-eager suitors who thought he was like his twin. Faruq did seem nice and Xavi could say he wanted to know more about him, but going on a date when Xavi was in this frame of mind wouldn't be wise. And besides, Vexi would certainly hear about it if Xavi went on a date with an angel. Vexi loathed angels, and Xavi's scar was proof of that.

Xavi walked alongside Faruq, or actually bit ahead. He had a street performer he wanted to see and was subtly leading the way. Xavi must've looked strange, dressed in knee length pants and t-shirt but had a long purple scarf wrapped around his neck. Xavi tugged on it once in a while, bit self-conscious. He knew it was normal but Faruq complimenting his appearance earlier had made him bit anxious. It always did.
Xavi looked around as well, and saw something interesting. He stopped and pointed at a booth.
"I heard from an acquaintance that those Dippin' Dots are tasty. Should we get some?"
Xavi didn't mind long silences, they actually were a bit fun if other people were bothered by them. But Xavi wanted to break the silence for Faruq. And Xavi actually wanted to try dippin' dots.

Faruq didn't entirely mind the silence. He would prefer to talk, but he didn't want to make Xavi uncomfortable. So when Xavi spoke first, he breathed an internal sigh of relief. But when he realised that the end of the silence was indeed food related, he had an internal sigh of despair. It can't be that bad, he could totally have some food later. It'd just have to be his snack for today. But there's so much other food here that he also wanted to try... Why does temperance have to be this troublesome.

On the outside, Faruq did a pretty good job on not showing any of his thoughts. He smiled at Xavi. "Sure, I've heard a little about them. They sound nice!" He didn't sound forced or strained, but casual and easygoing. However, internally, he was making a million calculations on whether he'll have to sleep next to a bucket tonight.

Decisions, decisions. He kept his hands in his pockets as he fidgeted them around. Ah screw it, as long as he didn't eat too much, he shouldn't go into yet another food coma. Besides, it's a public space so if he really did cause trouble for himself, he should get some help relatively quickly. He'll just have to make sure his roommate checks whether he's dead in the morning, though. He shook his head just a tiny bit, not enough to be noticeable. Just don't eat too much food now, and then snack a little for dinner. Should be fine.
