The muffled thump of boots was heard across the icy cement sidewalk as Kelly walked down the street. They were pink Uggs, of course. Tucked into them were light blue jeans that showed off her skinny waist. Throwing her hair over her shoulder and hitching her purse up higher on her shoulder, she finally rounded the corner and pushed the door open to Starbucks.
Once she was inside, Kelly unbuttoned her long fluffy pink coat halfway (the warm air inside felt better after the cold, but it was a bit too warm), and stood in line behind a man who was paying for his coffee. When it was her turn to order, she flashed the cashier a smile, then said "A french vanilla latte, please!" She breathed in the delicious sent of freshly ground coffee beans, then waited patiently for her drink to be done.
Smelling the coffee made her feel like home... and she missed it. She missed home. She didn't know this new place, this new "school." More like prison. And I'm stuck her until when? It wasn't like they told you. You probably never get out. I'll ask around, see if anyone has ever graduated. Doubt it.
When her steaming cup of coffee was set on the counter in front of her, she smiled gratefully and set her purse down next to it. She unzipped it carefully, then pulled out a pink wallet. She shifted towards the back, pulled out three dollar bills, and set them on the counter. "Thank you!" she said as the cashier handed her a few coins as change.
Taking a sip of the drink, it burned her tounge slightly, but it tasted wonderful. She headed over towards a chair and sat down, taking off her black gloves and setting them on the table. She leaned back in the chair, feeling a tiny bit better now that she had coffee.
