It was hot. Not only was it hot, but it was boring. Not a single person had been into the store all day, and it was ever so slowly grating on Travis's nerves. Coaliander was laying next to him, completely sprawled out on the tile floor of the shop, completely happy. Travis couldn't help but be jealous. Of course he didn't get hot.

The rest of the animals in the shop weren't as lucky as Coaliander, and they were all panting and sweating as well. Travis had spent the better part of the morning running around the shop like a manic making sure all of the animals were happy and semi-cool and with tons of water. After they were all generally satisfied, Travis had come to realize just how boring it was to stand, leaning against the counter, and wait for customers. He was never this slow.

"Ahhhh, Coali," Travis said, addressing, the comfortable flare demon sleeping on the floor next to him. "It's only May. If it's going to be this hot in May, what are we going to do the rest of the summer?" Coaliander replied with a lazy snort.

"Oh, of course you wouldn't care. Maybe I should invest in air conditioning..," he mused.

<div align=center>If anyone was feeling the heat, it was poor William. He'd resorted to catching the bus rather than walking, and that had been a huge mistake in it's self. It had reminded him why he didn't like public transport- a journey full of screaming babies and prepubescent teens that thought they could conquer the world. He made a mental note to walk back, he'd just have to suck it up and take off his jumper. The bell on the door jangled as he pushed it open, and the boy was met with a cacophony of sound that could only ever be associated with a pet shop, or an exotic rainforest.

But Bill wasn't looking for any kind of exotic pet, the thought of having to look after a parrot scared him, and God knew what else this shop sold. He stopped dead in the middle of the floor as his eyes flickered across the strange animal lying near the desk. "What on earth is that?" His thoughts escaped his head in a high pitched question. William rarely left campus, of course he'd never seen anything like this before, he hadn't even seen a dog since he came here. He wondered if the creature was friendly, though he supposed it wouldn't be allowed to run around the shop if it was likely to pounce on every customer that walked through the door. Don't breathe. He might smell your fear.

He was so taken aback by Coaliander that he almost didn't notice the man standing behind the counter, and almost felt rude for a second. The boy frowned a little and cleared his throat, "Oh.. Uh.. Hello." A small, nervous little smile replaced the frown, he assumed this man was the owner.</div>

Travis was somewhat startled to say the least. In this heat, he hadn't expected any customers all day. However, this man had marched right into his store, wearing a sweater no less. He looked like he was sweating just as much as Travis, however, and his startling and rude comment seemed to just fly out of his mouth. How had he never met this boy before? He smiled at the boy from across the counter. Maybe something good would come of it, and he could get one of his hot friends to a nice, cooler home.

"Ah, don't worry about Coaliander. He doesn't bite." He shot a look toward his best friend, who was currently looking at their guest as if he had just spat in his face. He resigned to closing his eyes again and attempting to return to sleep.

"Anyway, what can I help you with? Are you interested in purchasing a friend? Or just stocking up on supplies? Sorry about the lack of air conditioning." He chuckled politely, hoping to break the award, nervous tension that was only amplified by the boy's apparent strangeness, Coaliander's distaste toward the customer, and of course, the heavy, chocking heat.

<div align=center>William suddenly sensed an overwhelming feeling of something slightly unpleasant. He suddenly felt altogether rather uncomfortable, he frowned again. He should have brought Gabriel with him. No you shouldn't. A voice argued back, he'll kill you when he finds out what you've done. He was rethinking this all of a sudden, maybe I should just get a fish. He didn't know the first thing about looking after dogs. Fish were easy, right? It seemed rude to come in here and not buy anything, now. There were all kinds of animals in this shop, perhaps he could have a gerbil, or a mouse? Bill just felt it was time he was responsible for something other than himself- not that he was all that responsible for himself.

"A fish." He stated, more or less thinking aloud rather than anything else. "A little goldfish." He liked that idea, a little fish swimming around in a tank would be nice to look at. William had never had a fish before, in fact, he hadn't really had any pets before. His grandmother had had a dog, he remembered, but only vaguely. "Do you have any fish?" He asked, that seemed like a silly question in a shop that sold things he'd never even heard of.

He glanced wearing down at Coaliander again, feeling sweat bead on his forehead, though from nerves rather than heat. It would have been nice to have someone's hand to hold, he thought.</div>

Travis couldn't help but notice the strange boy's nervousness. It was as if he was having a mental battle with himself, but it was written all over his face. He glanced down at Coaliander, giving him a smirk. He responded by rolling his eyes. Clearly the young flare demon was having nothing doing with this particular customer.

"Well," Travis, started. He shifted his weight off of the counter and walked around to the front of it. "We sure do. All the aquatic pets are over here." He motioned towards a far wall of the store. Though it was small, it was packed full.

Travis wasn't particularly an expert on aquatic animals. They had never really been his primary interest. He made it a point to stock some though, even if they were just basic ones from the human world. Goldfish, he could handle.

He led the boy through a few twists and turns in the aisles, and soon they were staring at a wall of tanks, glistening in the hot Spring air. There wasn't the largest selection, but many types of small fish and other aquatic creatures swam around happily, oblivious to the heat.

"So it was a goldfish you said you wanted? Or could I interest you in something more interesting?"
