Morwen Oneiroi
I am your nightmare, am I your dream?
I am the lie you'd want to believe
I am the magic, your reverie
I'm your storyteller
—”Ring Around Dark Fairies’ Carousel” Diabulus in Musica
Thousands of years old, but mentally 15-ish | January 1st | Male | Sexuality unknown | Oneiroi-descent Pixie | Student | High School | 9th Grade
APPEARANCE
(Above art by Death2Eden)
Morwen is unusually tall and lanky for a Pixie, standing at 5’5”. He is also extremely feminine for a male, with a round baby face that highlights his soft features. He has sun-kissed skin now that he is actually able to be out in the sun and lots of freckles. His short hair is dark brown and has a wave to it. Girls often comment on how jealous they are of his thick eyelashes, and how cute he would be in makeup.
He likes to wear ‘girlish’ clothes, although does not often wear skirts or dresses. He prefers cute shorts and loose, flowy tops. He prefers simple clothes over anything too flamboyant or decorative. He LOVES cute socks, knee highs, thigh highs, etc.

PERSONALITY
On the surface, Morwen seems like a shy and friendly young boy. He’s a bit socially awkward and sometimes is confused by social norms that he wouldn’t have experienced in his pixie clan, but he tries his best to learn from others. Because of how feminine he is, Morwen tends to have more female friends than male ones. He is also drawn to animals, and to horses in particular as many pixies are.
Despite his cute looks and shy demeanor, Morwen is an Oneiori-descent pixie with powers related to nightmares. Morwen says he does not like to give others nightmares, and that is at least partially true. He really does want to make friends, and knows his power can cause people all sorts of problems. He’s very desperate to make friends, in fact, and may become a little clingy to anyone who is nice to him. Being trapped in a cave for a few thousand years would do that to anyone, who can blame him? He doesn’t want to make potential friends suffer from his powers.
But at the same time, he cannot help but be a slave to his nature. Morwen gains pleasure from the pain his nightmares cause. He craves it. There is nothing in the world like it. He tries different things to preoccupy himself, but struggles with his attention span. As nice as he tries to be, he sometimes becomes highly irritable as he struggles with his difficult attention span.

POWERS
Manic Dreamer
When asleep, Morwen causes everyone within a 10 mile radius who is also asleep to have horrific nightmares. The closer they are to Morwen as they sleep, the worse the nightmares become. Someone on the edge of the 10-mile radius may only experience an uncomfortable dream that wakes them up feeling a bit shaken but not too deeply affected. On the other hand, anyone who sleeps next to Morwen runs an extremely high risk of having a nightmare so horrific that it could drive them completely mad. They will act irrationally when they awaken, as if they are completely separated from reality.
Morwen does not have direct control of these dreams, nor does he ‘travel’ through the minds of others—but he is aware of them when he wakes up and knows what filled any individual’s nightmares. The nightmares automatically default to what the person fears most in relation to being lost and trapped somewhere, or losing someone or something of value.
The nightmares often start as regular dreams that boost the dreamer’s confidence, raising them up. As the dreams become nightmare, they start to manically jump from theme to theme, inevitably crushing the dreamer’s inflated self-esteem until they feel utterly hopeless. They will be desperately trying to find their way out of a maze with no exit, or they will watch a loved one become lost somewhere with no hope of ever returning to them. Or perhaps they will lose something irreplaceable, watching as that item is destroyed without the ability to do anything about it. The nightmares can go in many different directions as they are tailored to any specific dreamer, but they ultimately lead back to being lost or a deep loss.
Morwen does not need to give others nightmares to survive, but he does crave the sensation. The fear and pain his nightmares cause give Morwen intense pleasure and an intense high unmatched by any sort of drug.

Curse of the Lost
-Morwen’s Curse: Because Morwen’s nightmares are always connected to the sense of being lost or losing something, he is cursed to experience similar within his everyday life. In particular, he is highly prone to losing important objects—especially his power suppression bracelet.
He is also prone to getting lost. The school taught him to use the map functions on his phone to help him get around the island.
-Morwen’s Aura: Not only is Morwen affected by his Curse of the Lost, but others around him are affected to a small degree outside of his inflicted nightmares. He has an aura around him that makes others feel like they are in an unfamiliar place, even if they have been there many times before. They may forget directions to places they used to be extremely familiar with and end up getting themselves lost. They may also become more prone to misplacing things when around Morwen.

SPECIES ABILITIES
Night Vision After the Dark Times, Morwen’s eyes are better adjusted to night than day. During the day, he has to wear special, magically-enhanced goggles or contact lenses. Regular sunglasses are not enough to prevent serious injury to his eyes which could lead to permanent blindness.
Extended Life Span: While not entirely immortal, Morwen will live for a few thousand years before he will ever die of old age. He can also function without food or water, though he does need to sleep. He is more durable than a human, and it is difficult to kill him unless an iron weapon is used.
Weaknesses:
-Iron: Like many other Fae, Morwen has a weakness to iron. Touching cold iron gives his flesh a burning sensation, and touching hot iron will cause a painful injury.
-Fae Debt: Like other Fae, Morwen becomes indebted to others when he is offered something and accepts it.The debt is equal to what Morwen receives, whether it be a small gift or a huge favor.

IMPORTANT ITEMS
-Magically enhanced contact lenses: Allows him to see in the daylight without causing severe damage to his night-adapted eyes.
-Magically enhanced goggles: Same as above, for days he doesn’t have time to put his contacts in or accidentally lost them.
-Power suppression bracelet: It looks like a simply leather strap, but it allows Morwen to live at the school and in the city without causing anyone within a 10-mile radius nightmares when he sleeps. The school often has to supply him with replacements.

HISTORY
The Oneiroi-Descent Pixies are a small but feared clan that exist within the ringforts and stone circles of Cornwall. As the name implies, they are descendants of the Oneiroi—the minor Greek Gods and Goddesses of dreams and nightmares.
Morwen was kept by his clan as a weapon. Other Pixies in the clan would spread sand among their enemies to make them fall asleep, and then Morwen would be put to sleep himself. He would sleep within the camp of his enemies, and the nightmares he caused would drive the enemy so mad that they would slaughter themselves.
But what about when there were no wars to be fought? Those were the Dark Times, as Morwen refers to them, as he was kept in a magically-sealed cave that he could not escape from. The cave was exactly 11 miles away from the clan, so his nightmares would not effect them as they slept. The clan wanted to keep him in the event another war broke out, but they did not want to deal with the horrific nightmares his magic caused. They swore to him that they would release him once they found the proper magic to suppress his power, but years passed and Morwen remained trapped in the darkness.
During the Dark Times, Morwen’s clan had diminished and eventually disbanded entirely. Morwen was forgotten and left behind. Some of those Pixies wound up in Manta Carlos, and would talk about the rumors they used to hear as children of a Pixie who was trapped in a cave and used as a weapon during the war times. They did not know if the rumors or true, or had any interest in going back to find out, but the rumors did spread nevertheless. A scout at the school eventually decided they should investigate the rumors, just to be sure they weren’t true and to bring the Pixie back with them if they were true.
Long story short, they found Morwen and brought him back to the school. Now he is learning to live in the outside world, while dealing with suppressing his nightmare powers instead of using them as a weapon.
