The NEK0 wiggled cheerfully in her chair as she completed her assignment. Today, she was familiarizing herself with a little green not-Internet program called Excel. Watching the numbers do their thing as she imputed values was fun.
But sometimes, she couldn’t help but peer beyond her screen to see what the other students were doing. Was it just as fun? The owlish kid in the row in front of her was busy on a video-editing program. That was the thing about remedial classes, she had been told. Remedial meant that everyone tended to be working on very different levels of understanding. In normal classes, people apparently tended to more closely follow the same curriculum, because they were closer in understanding. But here on Manta Carlos, that wasn’t always the case either? People had different powers, and that sometimes made for differences even in the normal classes sometimes?
Hrmm. Reality was complex. But it was bigger than Owner’s kennel, so who was she to complain? With a wiggly shrug, the NEK0 set back to fidgeting in her chair and taptaptapping away at her keyboard.
