Here Drex was again, low on money and fighting was the only thing he knew how to do well. He had not the courage nor the death wish to ask for payment from Matriarch Pandora or her daughters. In the back of his mind he was paying attention to the announcer of this more regulated fight arena. No killing so that was going to be holding Drex back, he could regenerate from any wound with time. What ever the announcer was saying he didn't really care as his body moved through the motions of preparing for battle. The room around him was nothing to him.

After having his weapon and armor fixed from the fight with the abomination, hefting his pole ax, and his spiked chain wrapped around his waist he felt ready for the fight. He heard the announcer say something about his opponent for today and then he heard what the announcers came up with for him. "And in this corner, hailing from another world, a veteran of battle but new to the arena, the greatest of his line, a Demon Spider ready to wage the grizzly art of war upon his foes, Drrrrrrreeeeeex!"

The door opened revealing the mostly barren harsh metal landscape of the arena floor as Drex came out charging. His pole ax lowered for when he got close enough to his opponent who looked human at first glance so most of his battle tactics should work fairly well against someone that sized. Being akin to the blasted Light Elves in size simply just made Drex's job here easier.

Stupid wasn't the word Vatar would use to describe what he was doing. No, for it to be proper he would have to tack on the word Insanely. He wasn't Malara. This wasn't some casual event he could just take part of, at least not now. The roaring of the arena wasn't surprising considering the bloodthirsty maniacs that lived on the island. Paired with the announcer this left a deafening amount of noise to fill the hollow ring below and his ears.

All of this was based off a quack theory that had come to him after staying in the heat to long and the angered ramblings of his boss "Weapons are born in fire." is what he said. If he wanted his pwer to be of any use in helping people he needed to push himself now not later. The school could only go so far, but here, here he could see the level of his skill after all these years.

"INTRODUCING THE GOD OF DEATH! VATAR TOR!" the announcer's intro was met with a healthy amount of cheers. He had the urge to correct the man and say he was a demi-god but with the current setting, that point seemed moot.

When Vatar saw his opponent he could feel his are quicken as his body came to the final realization that it was indeed about to be harmed and would need to work harder than its usual strenuous workout at the gym.

When the announcer introduced Drex he knew right away that this man was no stranger to the ring. He was met with far greater cheers than him and people even had posters for the spider which caught Vatar off guard because they would've needed to be brought to the match prematurely.

This wasn't his usual spiderling, a bunch of little girls with varying tones of attitude. Pandora was a stone cold murderer who he had the weird please of calling family so intimidation at the size of the man was gone. No, what shook him up most was the attire the warrior bore. Was he going to die? Death wasn't allowed, right? Those thoughts crossed him as he pulled the sword his master let him have for being the employee of the month, granted he was the only one.

It was a bastard sword, his divine vigor made the blade lighter than your average joe and his shape and size made it even easier to move in his hands as he parted his feet and took a more battle ready stance. He had some paltry banded mail over his body, but his legs and arms only had strips of metal plate running down the front of them. He needed to be light on his feet.

Testing your opponent was a good start. With this man's size, he had to assume he was slow but Vatar couldn't be sure. When the bell gave its introductory ding he shot off like a bolt trying to get around Drex and seeing what his natural response would be.

This little pipsqueak of a creature was his opponent and it looked more battle trained then the centipede abomination had been. However Drex was a master of combat from years fighting against Light Elves as he defended his home from their raids and invasions. This humanoid male would find his end here in the arena... or at least Drex felt he was going to be the victor. The human's only weapon that Drex could see was a broadsword meant to fight equally sized opponents. Drex being his massive size and using a pole ax gave him a very distinct reach advantage. Not only that but a simple blade would only slide off of Drex's magic armor and the hair on his spider body was as tough or tougher than his forged armor.

Grinning behind his full helm Drex moved his body around using all 8 of his legs to not only pivot in place but also to move forward at stunning speed towards his opponent, With his reach Drex was able to take the first swing of the fight aiming to trip up the humanoid so he would be able to go in for a second strike to end the fight. In this nonlethal case, pointing the head spike at his opponents chest. Though anything could happen in a fight like this.

Of course, a person would eight legs would be quick. That quickly marked his speed of power tactic off the drawing board. He'd have to rely on his cheekiness and ability to think quick on his feet. The large brute was decked out more for war than a simple arena battle. This was why he needed this. If a person like this Drex man ever came around or needed to be apprehended he'd be stuck with a smaller arsenal. He didn't like using it but he'd have no choice but to try it once more. However, before he could get to that.........

Vatar eyes widened at the incoming metal to his chest and he quickly rolled to the side to duck the incoming staying to his knees in the hopes the spider would continue its charge toward him. His eyes began to glow a dark red as his sword began to glow and around it a mystical projection appeared as from the tip energy flowed into a tipping point, and from the hilt, the ends of a spear were made.Quickly getting up he rushed toward the spider expecting a follow-up sweep of sorts. The range wasn't his physically but the beauty of having powers was breaking the laws of physicality. His spear would slowly extend longer and longer as he grew closer. His hope was to pierce the man's body. As long as that armor didn't have any tricks he would be fine. His only real concern was the counter strike Drex would put up as a follow up to his strange plan.

After missing with his thrusting strike the young boy tried to go through the reach of his weapon to begin striking at the Spider Demon. Drex had been expecting this somewhat and as his very large and long weapon became more a hindrance rather than an asset. So Drex threw the heavy down on the ground, he didn't think this young boy would have the necessary strength to pick it up. Instead one of Drex's hands went to the spiked chain wrapped around his stomach like some sort of odd belt and with a single trained motion pulled it away from himself.

Through all of this Drex kept pursuing his opponent as he seemed to start glowing and a spear of magic began to appear to be growing more and more. But this too was not a surprise to the Demon Spider as his body began to strafe along the ground forcing the boy to follow him if he wanted to strike at Drex. The spear hit his armor once, a glancing hit that dug slightly into the enchanted armor. Sparks coming off of the dark looking metal as Drex began to swing the chain around himself in a blur of motion that would strike out like a viper aiming for the boy's feet.

Magic. It had to be flipping magic, didn't it? Vatar cursed internally as his spear slid off the spider's armor. Well, plan B had been a bust also. He could feel the gap in their strength. He wasn't super strong nor fast. All he had was his fists and swords. Maybe in this fantasy life of his sisters, he could actually do something cool but right now he felt divinely fucked. As the shadow of the swinging chain overhead stop whatever light was trying to get through Vatar tried to think quickly on his feet. Would he just have to get in closer right? The man spear was gone but range still wouldn't be his best bet.

Climb him. Climbing was his best bet for using his size against Drex.

Vatar let out a self-encouraging cry of anger as he rushed forward. If he blocked the chains with his sword he could dispose of it and just use his astral weapons. This was a plan...a stupid one but a plan.

Rushing forward once more he tightened his grip and steeled his heart for the inevitable pain he was gonna have to face climbing Drex. With each step, he felt his chance of winning go up slo-

".......shit."

Before Vatar could get enough pride in his heart to say he could win he was eating the ground and his legs had given from under him. He didn't see when the spider had done so or even really have time to respond as the chain cracked at one of his feet causing him to trip and fall toward Drex
