Corinth enjoyed quiet days, when relatives were out in the town and his work was slow. No special orders, no rambunctious relatives chasing about the house. This kind of peace was scarce since he'd left the island on a work trip. Lucan seemed to be adjusted to life of Manta Carlos, and Xiphium's island store had a good business running for the season, even if it was only for the masquerade at the month's end. It was an uneasy quiet, without a sound from Lucan and the others had all left for the day, with Corinth alone to worry. There was a celebration in the forest all weekend, originally, both children had intended to attend though Lucan had opted out of attending the second day.
His daughter had become a fine young woman in spite of his terrible parenting, which only made him worry more if he was taking care of Lucan properly. Corinth hadn't the slightest idea what parents really did, but he tried his best. What worried him now, was that Lucan hadn't left his room since the previous evening. Whether it was a bad breakup, or something worse, it wasn't something he had any previous experience with. He brought with him two mugs of tea - as much for his own nerves as it was for Lucan's - knocking on Lucan's door.
